Manager, Lines (West) (Non-Union)Full-time: 35 hours/weekLocation: Hamilton, Ontario (Nebo Rd)Status: This position is to fill a current vacancySalary Grade: 18 ($133,824 - $167,280 annually)Posting Closes: May 1, 2026What you’ll doLeadership and Team Management:- Provide leadership and guidance to the Construction and Maintenance teams, ensuring safety, service, reliability, cost‑efficiency, and training objectives are achieved.- Foster a high‑performance culture to promote productivity, accountability, quality, and customer service.- Offer people leadership through coaching, development, performance management, and resource planning.- Identify staff training needs in collaboration with the Technical Trades Coordinator and Training Department.Operational Management:- Oversee all distribution system preventative and corrective maintenance activities, ensuring timely and safe completion and documentation.- Ensure the successful execution of the capital construction program.- Oversee work completed by contractors to ensure quality and compliance with project requirements.Project and Relationship Management:- Collaborate with Engineering Design groups to evaluate project specifications, timelines, and labor needs.- Resolve technical issues during planning, design, and construction phases.- Liaise with construction contractors to ensure effective project planning and execution.Compliance and Safety:- Collaborate with Engineering Design groups to evaluate project specifications, timelines, and labor needs.- Resolve technical issues during planning, design,
and construction phases.- Liaise with construction contractors to ensure productive project planning and execution.Strategic Planning and Improvement:- Provide input to annual business plans and budgets, managing resources accordingly.- Research, recommend, and implement new or enhanced policies, procedures, and processes to improve operational effectiveness.Who you areEducation & Technical Knowledge:- Certified Journeyperson/Tradesperson, or Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Electrical Engineering or recognized equivalent.- Membership in Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) is an asset.- Valid class G driver’s license required.Specialized Knowledge:- Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems, work order planning and scheduling, and geographic information systems.- Advanced knowledge of distribution construction activities, and operations of overhead and underground construction practices.- Familiarity with energy and utility industries, including the regulatory environment.- Understanding of Standards Manuals, E&USA Rule Book, Safe Practice Guides, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.- Proficiency with MS Office applications.Experience:- 7-10 years of experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory role within the electrical distribution industry.- Experience in a unionized utility environment is an asset.Skills/Abilities/Competencies:- Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage,
develop, and motivate diverse teams.- Excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills, with the ability to handle and resolve complex situations.- Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects and initiatives.- Excellent written and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate information effectively and persuasively.Where you will work- The role is performed primarily in an office environment, with occasional time spent in the field.- Work may involve minor exposure to disagreeable conditions, including inclement weather, while supervising construction sites or maintenance activities.Compensation- Compensation for non‑union positions is determined within a defined salary range for each role. Placement within the salary range depends on qualifications, relevant experience, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
