Unit Summary
The Ability and Attendance team within Health, Safety and Wellness at Hamilton Health Sciences is accountable for the disability management, accommodation, return to work and attendance management processes through an effective incident capture, triage and response process and for providing the supports necessary to enable reasonable and regular attendance at work by all staff.
Position Summary
The Case Management Coordinator is responsible for the adjudication of disability benefits for employees who are absent due to non-occupational illness or injury. They will support employees who are absent from work related to illness or injury, ensuring that they stay connected with the workplace and have sufficient information about the process, roles and responsibilities, supports and available resources, and will enable return to work through reasonable accommodation as needed. The Case Management Coordinator provides assists the Case Managers and leaders to facilitate early return to work and modified work programs as appropriate.
Schedule Work Hours
Monday to Friday; days (some flexibility may be required to support various shifts)
This position is eligible for a hybrid work from home arrangement,
in accordance with HHS’ Remote Work Policy.
Qualifications
Certified Disability Management Professional or Certified Return to Work Coordinator designation (or working towards)
Diploma or degree in related field (ie. Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, Labour Relations, etc)
1-3 years or more of experience in disability management
Knowledge and proven understanding of the Ontario Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act and Workplace Safety and Insurance Act
Experience working in a large, diverse, highly unionized environment with the understanding of multiple Collective Agreements
Excellent analytical and report preparation skills
Knowledge of best practice in disability management and return to work
Creative problem solver with the ability to interact with individuals in a high-performing work culture
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to build trust at all levels of the organization; excellent relationship-building skills, influential and persuasive communication skills
Excellent listening skills and capacity for empathy while maintaining a professional relationship
Demonstrated passion for healthcare which will result in an active role as change agent driving our organization’s performance
Ability to develop partnerships and achieve results through others using motivation principles and negotiation skills; ability to work collaboratively within HHS and across partner institutions
Strong results orientation and an enthusiasm to work through a system with multiple challenges
Knowledge and experience working within a structured approach of program development
Demonstrated ability to manage own work effectively and independently
Working knowledge of MS Office, Internet, e-mail and HRIS applications is required.
