New Afton
Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.
Kamloops is a city of 105,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. About The Role
Schedule: 7 on, 7 off, 11-hour shifts, day shift only
Position Reports To: Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor
Position Overview
Maintenance and reliability are at the core of all work completed by the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning ("HVAC") Team. We strive to do the right maintenance, at the right time for the right reasons.
As an integral part of Coeur New Afton's Maintenance Team, the HVAC Labourer is responsible for ensuring all scheduled filter changes are completed daily and are required to do other labour-type tasks in all areas of the mine, including underground, process plant and surface buildings. Approximately 75% of the work is performed underground, with the remaining 25% in surface buildings and the mill process plant. This position plays a critical role in maintaining air quality and equipment efficiency, directly supporting the health and safety of all personnel and the reliability of equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Be a leader in safety and demonstrate a proactive approach to safety to ensure that everyone goes home safe and healthy everyday
Working with both the electrical and mechanical groups to maintain filter systems on various equipment
Completing small maintenance repairs as needed
Identify maintenance issues and maintain acceptable housekeeping
Operate mobile equipment including but not limited to forklifts, arial work platforms, and underground motor vehicles
Ensure proper documentation of work completed and accurate records for warehouse inventory counts
General labour duties as required both on surface and underground
Qualifications
Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of one year of industrial site experience with exposure to fixed plant-type equipment
High mechanical aptitude
Comfortable working on ladders
Able to work independently
Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills which are imperative to working within our team environment
Ability to adapt seamlessly to changing work and environmental conditions
Preference given to candidates who have underground mining experience
Compensation
The anticipated salary for this position will be between $60,000 to $70,000.
