The Department of Justice and Public Safety is dedicated to the rule of law, the promotion of the public interest, and the impartial administration of justice and works to improve the safety, security and resiliency of communities and citizens.

The Community and Youth Justice Services Branch is looking for a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team to support our initiatives. The successful candidate will join a positive and productive group of professionals and have opportunities for learning and professional development. The work location is flexible and/or remote, the hours are 36.25 per week, and this will be a contract position until June 8, 2027 with possibility of extension.

The Community and Youth Justice Services Branch is responsible for preventing and reducing crime and victimization while promoting community safety. The Branch delivers effective community-based programs for justice-involved individuals and develops provincial policies, standards, agreements, and collaborative partnerships that support evidence-based prevention initiatives throughout New Brunswick.

Through regional offices, the Branch delivers:

- provincial adult and youth diversion programs;
- rehabilitative case management and intervention services to adults and young persons sentenced to community and/or correctional supervision;
- open custody placements for youth whose level of supervision has been deemed by the courts to require a less restrictive custodial environment than would be provided in a secure custody facility; and
- programs and support services to help victims of crime who come to the attention of the criminal justice system.

The Branch also collaborates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of improvements to initiatives such as the Coordinated Community Response Model to high risk and high danger intimate partner violence cases; management of prolific offenders; and other service delivery and research projects involving the Criminal Justice System.

What you will do

As a Senior Consultant with the Community and Youth Justice Services team, you will lead the development and implementation of strategic policies, programs, and projects that strengthen community, probation, diversion, and victim services.



This role is instrumental in building a sustainable victim services program through research, policy development, stakeholder collaboration, and evidence-informed decision-making.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading strategic policy, program, and project development and implementation.
- Managing project planning, funding proposals, budgets, reporting, and professional documentation.
- Conducting research, analysis, and evaluation to measure program effectiveness and support continuous improvement.
- Building collaborative relationships with government, community partners, stakeholders, and rightsholders, while representing the Branch on committees and working groups.
- Coaching and mentoring team members.
- Interpreting and applying legislation, developing policies, procedures, and risk assessment tools.
- Establishing performance indicators and evaluation frameworks to ensure programs are accountable, sustainable, and evidence-informed.

Need to have:

- University degree in the Social Sciences, Law or Business Administration or a related education discipline
- a minimum of five (5) years of related work experience in the community services or crime prevention field.
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance check.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Wage

$2,600.00 to $3,631.00 biweekly based on education and experience

- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15 to 4:30
