ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NL Health Services – Central Zone is seeking a permanent full time Family Medicine Physician at the Dr. C.V. Smith Memorial Community Health Centre in Glovertown, NL.

Reporting to the Chief of Family Medicine,



the successful candidate will attend family medicine clinics Monday to Friday between 08:30–16:30 hours daily within the Dr. C.V. Smith Memorial Community Health Centre. The Physician will be expected to maintain a patient roster. In addition to seeing regularly scheduled patients and walk-ins/new patients, the Physician will spend time each day reviewing lab data, letters and charts, completing consultant letters, returning telephone calls, teaching, and completing various administrative and insurance forms.

The ideal candidate will have a strong patient focus and excellent communication skills with a keen interest in practicing in a collaborative team approach. Hours of work may require flexibility to offer clinics during daytime, after-hours, and on weekends to meet patient needs. Care will be provided using the EMR platform.

Glovertown is a welcoming community on the shores of Alexander Bay in central Newfoundland, offering a relaxed lifestyle and easy access to the natural beauty of Terra Nova National Park and the surrounding region. The area offers excellent outdoor recreation including hiking, fishing, boating, and snowmobiling.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
- Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES





- Attend family medicine clinics Monday to Friday between 08:30–16:30 hours
- Maintain a patient roster and provide care to regularly scheduled patients, walk-ins, and new patients
- Review lab data, letters, and charts on a daily basis
- Complete consultant letters, insurance forms, and other administrative duties
- Return telephone calls and respond to patient inquiries in a timely manner
- Participate in teaching activities as required
- Provide clinics during daytime, after-hours, and on weekends as required to meet patient needs
- Utilize the EMR platform for all patient care documentation
- Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team using a collaborative care approach
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
