Requirements
In this position, you will be responsible for project investigation, reporting, specification preparation, design production, quality observation, and liaising with clients, contractors, and manufacturers. You must be able to manage multiple projects involving various scopes. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
Essential Job Functions
Provide electrical engineering consulting services, including system evaluations, feasibility studies, and technical recommendations
Perform and oversee field reviews, testing, data collection, design, report, and specification writing
Use a variety of technical methods to solve problems
Perform electrical system condition assessments, including review of service equipment, distribution systems, lighting, life safety systems, and other electrical infrastructure for code compliance, operational performance, and remaining service life
Obtain the ability to provide Class "D" budgets
Complete design assignments of limited scope and complexity, as well as design of electrical systems for new construction and retrofit projects in the commercial and high-rise residential sectors (projects like power distribution, life safety, etc.)
Design and oversee electrical systems, including but not limited too; Emergency power systems, Power distribution systems, Incoming electrical service,
Lighting systems, etc
Prepare detailed designs, drawings, and specifications for tendering purposes
Prepare documentation for submission to the authorities having jurisdiction
Review drawings and specifications prepared by others to verify that the scope of work is sufficient and to ensure that all required details, materials, methods, etc., are correctly specified
Carry out technical tasks requiring accuracy in calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed testing analysis, design, or computation methods
Obtain proficiency with OBC, OESC, CEC, CSA, ESA standards, and coordination with AHJ for approval(s)
Lead the tender process with contractors, providing bid review, and bid analysis documentation. Also lead tender analysis meetings with clients after bidding processes
Coordinate and conduct pre-bid, pre-start, progress, and final project site meetings
Review project submittals and shop drawings to verify compliance with project specifications and drawings
Conduct construction reviews to ensure project compliance with design specifications and standards
Manage contract administration, including coordination with contractors, suppliers and clients
Lead project management activities, ensuring timely and budget-conscious project delivery
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project integration
Represent Rimkus at client meetings and other networking functions with a commitment to exceptional service standards
Stay updated on industry standards, technologies and best practices to deliver innovative solutions
Provide technical assistance to field technicians and technologists
Coordinate input for time billing and job costing
Other assigned duties and tasks, as required
Required Experience, Education And Certifications
Completion of a degree or diploma in engineering or engineering technology with a specialization of Electrical Engineering
Possession of Professional Engineering stamps in Ontario and other provinces is considered an asset. Candidate expectation is at minimum to be eligible for PEO Licensure, or ability to obtain in near future (working towards)
Minimum of 5+ years of project management experience at an engineering consulting firm
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required
Required Skills And Abilities
Proficiency in design and analysis tools (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit or similar software) and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; technical writing skills are required
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
Exceptional attention to detail, specifically in accuracy of calculations and completeness of data collection and notation
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
Self-motivating and able to multi-task
Ability to act with business integrity and professionalism

Physical Demands, Overtime, And Travel Requirements
Physical Demands
Work is performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e. industrial, construction and/or residential sites). The employee is frequently required to stand, walk on sloped and flat roofs, sit, climb ladders, bend, climb inside attics, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to client sites or job sites. Working at heights, including accessing buildings by ladders, swing stages, and mechanical lifts may be necessary depending on assigned discipline. The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Transparent vision and depth perception are also necessary. The employee must be sharp, focused, and alert when conducting inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, preparing drawings and written reports.
Overtime
There will be some occasions where overtime (or working after normal business hours) will be required to meet the demands of the position.
Travel
This position requires up to 60% local area travel. Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
