As a Mortgage Specialist , you will partner with members to develop personalized borrowing strategies that support home ownership, financial wellbeing, and life's important milestones. The Mortgage Specialist serves members across all SASCU branch locations, ensuring members have access to specialized borrowing expertise and a consistent advisory experience.
What you’ll do:
Provide education and advice on residential mortgage and personal lending solutions (e.g., mortgages, home equity financing, personal loans, lines of credit, credit insurance, and related products) to help members make informed borrowing decisions and achieve their financial goals.
Manage an assigned mortgage portfolio with regular reviews and personalized contact to build trusted relationships and ensure members' borrowing needs continue to be met.
Interview applicants, analyze financial information, assess creditworthiness, and approve loans within delegated lending authority or prepare recommendations for Central Credit.
Identify opportunities and refer members to colleagues when appropriate to ensure members receive comprehensive financial solutions that meet their evolving needs.
Represent SASCU at community events, seminars, and educational sessions by delivering presentations that build financial literacy, promote borrowing solutions, and strengthen community relationships.
Complete lending documentation and mortgage transactions in compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements,
and established lending standards.
Provide peer coaching and back-up to Financial Advisors across SASCU’s branch network.
What you’ll bring:
2 years of post-secondary education or equivalent.
6–7 years of progressive banking or financial services experience, including 1-2 years of experience assessing lending application using sound underwriting practices.
Completion of CCUA Introduction to Business Financial Statements within six months of attaining the position.
Access to reliable transportation, and willingness to travel to any SASCU related business location as required.
Proven sales skills and a passion for member education and advice.
Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Comfort with digital tools and financial systems.
