Under the general direction of the Assistant Dean, Students, the Manager, Experiential Education and Career Development role is responsible for the design and delivery of high-quality career development, job search and experiential education programs and services to Osgoode Hall Law School students and alumni. The experiential education offerings at Osgoode Hall Law School are the most extensive in Canada and amongst the most innovative in the world. They include Clinical Programs, Mooting and Lawyering Skills Competitions, the Summer Internship Program, and the Osgoode Public Interest Requirement (OPIR). The role leads and manages the Osgoode's Career Development Office and the Office of Experiential Education and is part of a management team responsible for the development, implementation and management of the Office of Admissions and Student Services. The role assesses current and potential experiential education opportunities, develops strategic plans for the implementation of experiential learning strategies, and oversees the implementation of the initiatives and tracking of practicum requirements. As an experienced legal professional with extensive contacts in the legal community, the role ensures the highest standard of delivery of career development services to Osgoode students and alumni. The role works to develop and foster new employment opportunities with a variety of legal employers including private law firms,



small and sole practitioners, in-house legal departments, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and legal information technology service providers.

Education
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, such as Law or Juris Doctor Degree.
Member of a provincial law society, in good standing.

Experience
5 years of related experience.
3 years of management experience.
Experience facilitating the introduction, management, and evaluation of experiential education in a complex academic setting.
Experience facilitating job placements and/or law student recruitment and working within the legal community, not-for-profit, volunteer, and private sectors, as well as the broad public sector.

Knowledge
Knowledge of the curricular objectives of the law school and an appreciation of academic values associated with Osgoode's academic programme, particularly those relating to experiential education.
Knowledge of the legal profession and the professional considerations of concern to legal professionals and law students.
Familiarity with faculty and university environment, including policy setting bodies and procedures, academic and non-academic policies, and regulations.
Knowledge of processes to initiate, develop, implement, and monitor a wide variety of complex and sensitive projects, both long-term and short term.
Understanding of the principles of career development and counselling for both JD and graduate students.
Knowledge of online information systems.

Ability to statistically analyze large amounts of data.

Compensation
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award. Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
