QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience Graduation from a recognized university program in Occupational Therapy.
Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as an Occupational Therapist.
Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT). A minimum of two (2) years'' recent experience in a mental health setting working with children and adolescents.
Skills And Abilities Knowledge of developmental issues and theories related to mental illness for the client population.
Broad knowledge of COTBC standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practice Demonstrated clinical competency in the field of occupational therapy and broad knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Familiar with evidence-based clinical practice related to designated clinical area(s)
Demonstrated knowledge and application of occupational therapy in family-centered approach to care.
Basic knowledge of occupational therapy standardized tests and measures.
Demonstrated ability to engage and work with children, adolescents and families of advanced complexity.
Demonstrated ability to teach and empower children, youth, their families, and other professionals.
Demonstrated ability to organize time and responsibilities and to work independently.
Demonstrated ability to adjust to the unexpected events, problem-solve, set priorities and deal with conflict.
Demonstrated/referenced interpersonal and cooperative team skills.
Working knowledge of relevant legislature applicable- i.e.
The Mental Health Act, Hospital Act.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
