Summary
Starland County is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as the Agricultural Fieldman. The Agricultural Fieldman is responsible for administering all agricultural acts, programs, and services that are required to operate the agricultural department.
The successful applicant will be required to work a 37.5 hour work week, Monday to Friday. The salary range for this position is $94,000-$152,000 and an excellent perks package is available.

Key Responsibilities
The job duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
✓ Budget preparation: prepare a budget outlining agricultural programming for each
season and present the budget for acceptance
✓ Prepare grant applications applicable to agriculture
✓ Supervise and direct staff to effectively run the agricultural service board programs
✓ Conduct all surveys such as grasshoppers, blackleg of Canola, and bertha
armyworm
✓ Legislative responsibilities: Inspector under the Weed Control Act, Inspector under
the Agricultural Pest Act, Soil Conservation Officer under Soil Conservation Act,
Inspector under the Agricultural Chemicals Act
Requirements
The preferred qualifications for this position include post secondary education in agricultural, environmental science, or other related agricultural discipline. They must also hold a valid Agricultural and Industrial Pesticide Applicator Certificate. The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role with supervisor experience. The candidate must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and be comfortable operating and transporting tractors, ATV’s UTV’s and implements. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft are essential.
Starland County is a drug and alcohol free workplace so the successful candidate must complete a drug and alcohol test prior to commencement of employment. The successful candidate will be required to provide a criminal record check and must be bondable.
