Job Title: Accountant Job Description The Accountant acts as the financial steward and controller for assigned business units, ensuring full compliance with IFRS and GAAP while supporting both an established operation in Rochester and a new manufacturing business unit in Mexico.
This role leads the full month-end close process, including journal entries, financial reporting, and analysis, and serves as a key partner to operations, program managers, and cross-functional teams.
The Accountant bridges finance and operations by providing practical accounting guidance, improving processes in a high-growth environment, and supporting billing, reporting, and customer financial discussions.
The role also maintains accounting policies, internal controls, and audit readiness, while mentoring junior team members and overseeing financial operations across multiple locations.
Responsibilities Act as the financial steward and controller for assigned business units, ensuring adherence to IFRS and GAAP standards.
Support an established operation in Rochester and a new manufacturing business unit in Mexico, providing consistent financial oversight.
Lead the month-end close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
Prepare, analyze, and present financial statements and management reports to support decision-making.
Partner closely with operations, program managers, and cross-functional teams to align financial results with operational performance.
Serve as the primary bridge between finance and operations, translating financial information into practical insights and actions.
Support billing activities, financial reporting, and customer financial discussions as required.
Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures to ensure strong internal controls and compliance.
Ensure audit readiness by maintaining accurate documentation, supporting internal and external audits, and responding to audit requests.
Oversee account reconciliations, including balance sheet and key operational accounts, and resolve accounting variances in a timely manner.
Identify financial risks, trends, and issues, and drive corrective actions in collaboration with business stakeholders.
Provide technical accounting guidance to business leaders and non-finance stakeholders on complex or unusual transactions.
Apply strong cost accounting knowledge to inventory, standard costing, variance analysis, and margin analysis to support manufacturing operations.
Oversee financial operations across multiple locations, business units, entities, or sites, ensuring consistency in processes and controls.
Operate with a controller mindset by proactively identifying process improvements and strengthening financial governance.
Mentor and support junior accounting team members, contributing to their professional development.
Contribute to process improvement and business transformation initiatives, particularly in a high-growth and evolving environment.
Collaborate within a strong team environment to help build and scale a new business unit.
Participate in or support ERP-related activities, including implementations or enhancements, as needed.
Travel once per month to Mexico and/or Rochester to support on-site financial and operational activities.
Essential Skills At least 5 years of full-cycle accounting experience covering the end-to-end accounting process.
Professional accounting designation such as CPA (or equivalent).
Strong knowledge of IFRS and GAAP and the ability to apply these standards in practice.
Proven experience in the manufacturing industry, including exposure to plant or production environments.
Ability to travel monthly to Rochester and/or Mexico and obtain Control Goods Clearance.
Strong cost accounting expertise, including inventory accounting, standard costing, variance analysis, and margin analysis.
Demonstrated experience in financial controls, compliance, and audit processes.
Experience overseeing financial operations across multiple locations, business units, entities, or sites.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a controller mindset.
Hands-on experience with month-end close, financial statement preparation, and financial reporting.
Experience maintaining and working within robust internal control environments.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both finance and operations teams.
Ability to work independently as a self-starter while collaborating effectively within a team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications ERP experience, preferably with Epicor or Oracle.
Experience with ERP implementation projects, including system setup, testing, and process alignment.
Process improvement or business transformation experience, particularly in high-growth environments.
Experience supporting business units with approximately $30M to $40M or more in revenue.
Confident and collaborative approach, with the ability to influence non-finance stakeholders.
Strong judgment and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
Proactive, hands-on working style and a willingness to take ownership of outcomes.
Interest in and enthusiasm for building and scaling new business units or operations.

Work Environment The role operates in a hybrid office environment, with three days per week working from home (typically Monday, Thursday, and Friday) and on-site presence on other days as needed.
The standard schedule runs Monday to Friday from 8:00 . to 4:30 ., providing a structured daytime workweek.
On-site parking is available for employees commuting to the office.
The Accountant reports directly to the Director of Accounting and works within a core accounting team of approximately three people, supported by a broader finance team of about 15 to 20 professionals.
The position requires travel approximately once per month to Mexico and/or Rochester to support local operations and maintain close collaboration with on-site teams.
