Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Controller to provide financial leadership for a growing multi-entity business in London, Ontario. This position combines hands-on oversight of core accounting activities with strategic guidance that supports profitability, operational efficiency, and long-term planning. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with ownership, lead key finance team members, and help strengthen a finance function that can grow with the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with ownership to evaluate financial results, guide business decisions, and recommend actions that support stronger margins and sustainable growth.
- Review performance across individual locations and the overall organization, translating financial data into practical insights related to labour, food costs, and other key business metrics.
- Direct end-to-end accounting activities for multiple entities, ensuring records are complete, accurate, and delivered within reporting timelines.
- Maintain clear oversight of profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow to support informed operational and strategic planning.
- Strengthen financial controls, reinforce consistent accounting practices, and promote discipline across day-to-day finance operations.
- Provide leadership to office/accounting staff, offering direction, support, and accountability for quality and timeliness of work while identifying opportunities for greater efficiency, and help define future resourcing needs as the business expands.
- Improve reporting processes by making effective use of Sage 300, AP automation, AI-enabled tools, dashboards, and KPI tracking to support timely decision-making.
- Coordinate with external accountants, banking contacts, and other financial partners to support year-end activities, compliance requirements, and alignment between internal and external reporting.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a Controller or senior finance leadership role with responsibility for both accounting operations and business performance analysis.
- Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management within a multi-entity/multi-unit hospitality environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead finance staff while building structure and accountability within a team.
- Hands-on experience with accounting and reporting systems such as Sage 300.
- Ability to analyze financial and operational data, prepare ad hoc financial reporting, and present explicit recommendations to ownership or senior leaders.
- Solid understanding of internal controls, compliance requirements, and financial processes that support accurate and timely reporting.
- Strong communication and business partnering skills with the ability to work effectively with external accountants, banks, and internal stakeholders.
- A CPA designation is a welcomed asset, with priority being given to candidates who bring strong hands-on industry experience.
