Title: Loss Prevention Advisor
Location: 1645 Inkster Blvd, Winnipeg MB

Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Risk & Assurance Department, the Loss Prevention Advisor will support loss prevention initiatives in order to mitigate risk and losses in our Co-op operation that services our northern communities.
The Loss Prevention Advisor will be responsible for delivering recommendations across the Arctic Co-ops System on risk control strategies and loss prevention practices. Responsibilities in this role will be conducting loss/risk audits, investigations and administration of the firearms program and cash transfer program.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing and delivering training on risk and loss control best practices.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify causes and recommend remedial action as it relates to loss or risk.
- Ensure compliance to security standards, and conduct in-depth investigations in a professional, legal, and ethical manner.
- Identify process gaps in standard operating procedures/policies and conduct root cause analyses to prevent future risk and loss.
- Prepare accurate and detailed reports, preserve evidence, maintain accurate case file notes, and communicate findings to key stakeholders as it relates to investigations and audits.
- Travel approximately 70 days per year within the Arctic Co-ops System including Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and Yukon.
- Manage the Firearms Business Licenses for each location and act as a SME for supporting stores with PAL licensing requirements.
- Assist in the performance of forensic audits, as circumstances require.
- Interact with law enforcement and testify in court when necessary.
- Prepare comprehensive reports that identify potential risks associated with the audits you perform and conduct regular follow up to offer support to the Co-op operation.
- Administrative tasks, that include, but not limited too, extracting and analyzing data on a weekly basis and communicating identified concerns with key stakeholders.
- Supporting Co-ops with transfers of currency, and supporting the Home Office workplace Health and Safety Committee.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of loss prevention experience in a retail environment.
- Basic understanding of Workplace Health and Safety programs.
- Certified in Investigation practices would be an asset (i.e.: Wicklander ).
- Knowledge of Firearm Licensing requirements and the ability to support the firearm licensing program would be an asset.
- A valid PAL license or the ability to acquire a PAL license would be an asset.
- Robust understanding of current and emerging trends related to ORC and internal theft.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and critical thinking skills when making decisions and solving problems.
- Initiative-taking and able to adapt to a changing environment, competing demands, and current responsibilities.
- Proven time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Must have excellent communication (verbal, written) and active listening skills.
- Highly organized and able to prioritize multiple projects effectively to meet strict deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Able to quickly assess situations and take decisive action to mitigate safety concerns, risk, and loss.
- Ability to travel to the Arctic and other Arctic Co-operatives Limited business locations approximately 70 days per year.
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, etc.)
- Keen sense of observation and analytical skills.
- Able to work with an elevated level of independence, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
