About the Role
The Installation Technician works alongside the Installation Team to install patient lift systems and related healthcare equipment in hospitals and long-term care facilities across Canada.
This is an active, hands-on role that combines construction, mechanical installation, problem-solving, and customer interaction. Successful candidates enjoy working with tools, travelling,
learning new skills, and being part of a team that delivers high-quality work safely and professionally.
Job Type: Part-Time with expectation of full-time hours on average. Travel is a significant component of this position. Team members can expect to be away from home for up to 20 days per month depending on project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with patient lift installations in hospitals and long-term care homes
- Assemble, install, test, and commission equipment
- Operate power tools and hand tools safely and effectively
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, and scissor lifts
- Perform inspections and service work on installed equipment
- Read and follow installation drawings and project instructions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite
- Represent Guldmann professionally when working with healthcare staff, contractors, consultants, and customers
- Support project completion while meeting quality and safety standards
Required Qualifications
- Valid G-Class Driver's License with a clean driving abstract
- Reliable transportation to and from project sites
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Canada
- Ability to travel internationally for training and company events as required
- Previous construction, installation, mechanical, service, maintenance, or related hands-on experience
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and project requirements
Experience in any of the following areas is considered an asset:
- Commercial construction
- Healthcare construction
- Electrical work
- Mechanical installation
- Facility maintenance
- Field service
- Equipment installation
- Working at Heights certification
- Lift equipment, ceiling systems, or overhead support structures
Candidates must be comfortable:
- Working at heights
- Working in confined spaces such as attics and ceiling cavities
- Lifting and carrying tools and materials
- Standing, climbing, and working in active construction environments
- Travelling frequently and working extended days when project schedules require
Licensing, Screening and Certifications
To work within healthcare environments, successful candidates must meet site-access requirements, including:
- Valid G-Class Driver's License with a clean driving abstract
- Ability to obtain and maintain Working at Heights certification (training provided if required)
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check
- Ability to satisfy healthcare facility security and access requirements
- Ability to travel within Canada and internationally as required
Compensation
- $30.00-$36.00 per hour
- Overtime pay
- 4% vacation pay
Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime as required
- Weekends as needed
- Travel-based position
Work Location
In person at project locations across Ontario and Canada.
