Position Summary
Crown Group of Hotels is seeking an experienced and results-driven General Manager to lead the overall operations and performance of Quality Inn & Suites.
The General Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership across all areas of the hotel, including Rooms, Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Banquets, Sales, Engineering, and Administration.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving financial performance, operational excellence, guest satisfaction, associate engagement, revenue growth, and brand compliance, while ensuring the hotel remains a strong and competitive property within its market.
Key Responsibilities
Hotel Operations & Leadership
- Provide overall leadership and direction for all hotel departments.
- Ensure consistent operational standards and exceptional guest service.
- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability for department leaders.
- Ensure compliance with brand standards, company policies, and applicable legislation.
- Develop and implement annual business plans and operational strategies.
- Maintain strong communication and collaboration across all departments.
Financial & Business Performance
- Take full ownership of the hotel's financial performance and P&L.;
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and departmental targets.
- Monitor labour, operating expenses, food costs, and other key controllable expenses.
- Drive profitability and achieve established GOP and NOI targets.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
Revenue, Sales & Market Development
- Drive growth in occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and total hotel revenue.
- Work closely with Sales and Revenue Management to maximize business opportunities.
- Develop and maintain strong corporate, group, leisure, and local market relationships.
- Support growth of banquet, meeting, wedding, and social event business.
- Monitor market trends and competitor performance and adjust strategies accordingly.
Guest Experience
- Maintain high standards of guest satisfaction and service delivery.
- Monitor guest feedback and implement effective service recovery strategies.
- Ensure consistent execution of hotel, restaurant, and banquet operations.
- Build a strong service culture focused on exceeding guest expectations.
People & Culture
- Recruit, develop, coach, and retain strong department leaders.
- Create a culture of accountability, teamwork, recognition, and continuous improvement.
- Address performance issues promptly and consistently.
- Ensure compliance with applicable employment standards, health and safety requirements, and workplace policies.
- Promote employee engagement and retention.
Property & Asset Management
- Oversee preventative maintenance and property improvement initiatives.
- Work with Engineering and department leaders to protect the hotel's physical assets.
- Participate in capital planning and renovation projects.
- Ensure the property meets required safety, security, cleanliness, and operational standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressive hotel leadership experience, with previous senior management or General Manager experience strongly preferred.
- Experience managing a full-service or select-service hotel with Food & Beverage and banquet/event operations.
- Solid understanding of hotel P&L; management, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Demonstrated knowledge of RevPAR, ADR, occupancy, GOP, and revenue management strategies.
- Proven ability to lead multiple departments and develop high-performing management teams.
- Strong sales, business development, and relationship-management skills.
- Experience working with hotel brand standards and operational audits.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian employment, health and safety, and hospitality regulations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Post-secondary education in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is an asset.
- Hotel management certification or professional designation is an asset.
