Construction Estimator

Location: Winnipeg, MB
Job Type: Full-Time

Our client is looking for a Construction Estimator with experience in general contracting to join their team in Winnipeg. This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable reviewing drawings, preparing estimates, working with subcontractors and suppliers, and helping projects move from the estimating stage into construction.

Responsibilities

- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and/or restoration construction projects
- Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements
- Obtain and review pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
- Prepare tender submissions, bids, budgets, and cost breakdowns
- Identify project requirements, potential risks, and cost-saving opportunities
- Work closely with Project Managers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients
- Assist with project handoffs from estimating to construction
- Track project costs and update estimates as scope changes
- Maintain organized estimating and tender documentation




- Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings as required
- Ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and submitted on time

Qualifications

- 3+ years of experience in construction estimating
- Experience with a general contractor or within a general contracting environment
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, labour, and subcontractor pricing
- Experience preparing estimates, bids, and tenders
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfortable working with multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction estimating software
