Barndo & Co. is growing, and we are looking for a talented Barndominium Plan & Design Specialist to join our Plan & Design team.

This is a client-facing residential design position focused on helping families take their ideas, needs, and vision for their barndominium and turn them into a thoughtfully designed 2D floor plan.

Our Plan & Design Specialists work directly with clients throughout the design process, collaborating with the rest of the Plan & Design team to create functional, practical, and well-planned homes while delivering an exceptional client experience.

What You'll Do

- Work directly with Barndo & Co. clients to understand their lifestyle, family needs, priorities, property considerations, and vision for their home.
- Work 9am-5pm Monday to Friday in-office.
- Create and revise 2D residential floor plans using floor plan design tools.
- Translate client ideas and inspiration into functional, well-thought-out residential layouts.
- Consider room sizing, circulation, sightlines, storage, entrances, entertaining spaces, family functionality, and overall flow.
- Guide clients through revisions and help them make informed design decisions.
- Communicate clearly, professionally, and efficiently with clients throughout their Plan & Design experience.
- Coordinate internally with Barndo & Co.'s Plan & Design team and manager to execute the creation of 30-50 plans at any time.
- Maintain accurate project information, client communications, files, revisions, and deliverables using the Barndo & Co. technology and software stack.
- Follow established Barndo & Co. workflows, standards, design processes, and quality-control procedures.




- Manage multiple active client designs and keep projects moving through the design pipeline.
- Ensure drawings and project information are organized and prepared properly for the next stages of the Barndo & Co. process.
- Take ownership of the client's experience from the beginning of Plan & Design through completion of their design package.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone with a genuine understanding of residential design and space planning, not simply someone who knows how to operate drafting software.

The ideal candidate is:

- Experienced in residential floor-plan design, drafting, interior space planning, architectural technology, home design, or a related field.
- Comfortable working directly with homeowners and discussing their needs, ideas, and concerns.
- Able to visualize how people will actually live within a home.
- Highly detail-oriented.
- Organized and capable of managing several projects simultaneously.
- An excellent written and verbal communicator.
- Comfortable receiving feedback and making multiple design revisions.
- Confident using technology and able to learn new software quickly.
- Able to collaborate effectively within a larger design and operations team.
- Accountable for deadlines, communication, and quality of work.
- Someone who genuinely enjoys creating homes and working with clients.

Experience with RoomSketcher is an asset, but experience with comparable residential design or drafting software is also valuable.
