The Wentworth Ski Race Club (WSRC) is seeking an energetic, organized, and passionate Program Coordinator to lead our athlete development programs and coaching team.

As the central leader of our alpine racing program, the Program Coordinator plays a vital role in creating an exceptional experience for athletes and families while ensuring programs are delivered safely, professionally, and in alignment with Alpine Canada, Ski Nova Scotia, and club standards.

This is a hands-on leadership position that combines program planning, coaching leadership, athlete development, operations, and stakeholder relationship management.

About Wentworth Ski Race Club

WSRC is dedicated to developing athletes in a positive, challenging, and supportive environment that promotes skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and a lifelong passion for skiing.

Working closely with the WSRC Board of Directors, Ski Wentworth, Ski Nova Scotia, athletes, parents, volunteers, and coaches, WSRC provides competitive alpine racing opportunities for athletes of varying ages and skill levels. Our programs are designed to meet athletes where they are in their development, from young skiers discovering the fundamentals of the sport to athletes pursuing higher levels of competition and performance.

As a community-based ski race club, we believe that success is about more than results on the race course. We strive to create a welcoming team environment where athletes are encouraged to challenge themselves, build confidence, develop strong relationships, and enjoy the experience of being part of a ski racing community.

WSRC is supported by a dedicated network of coaches, volunteers, families, and community partners who work together to provide high-quality programming and meaningful opportunities for athletes to grow both on and off the mountain. Position Overview

The Program Coordinator provides leadership and oversight for all aspects of the WSRC training and racing program, including:

- Planning and overseeing dry-land and on-snow training programs
- Supervising and developing coaching staff
- Coordinating camps, races, and athlete development activities
- Support budget management activities for coaching, travel, races, etc.




- Ensuring athlete safety and program quality
- Managing program equipment and operational needs
- Supporting communication with athletes, families, volunteers, and partner organizations
- Ensuring all required safety certifications, screen requirements, and Safe Sport standards are maintained in accordance with WSRC, Ski Nova Scotia and Alpine Canada requirements.

The Program Coordinator reports to the WSRC Board of Directors through the Club President and Vice President.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Athlete Development

- Develop and oversee WSRC's dryland and on-snow training programs.
- Coordinate seasonal training plans in collaboration with coaching staff.
- Lead on-snow training sessions and athlete development activities.
- Coordinate training camps and competition preparation.
- Maintain athlete training and competition records.
- Ensure high standards for athlete safety, risk management, and program quality.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for all athletes.

Race & Competition Management

- Coordinate athlete participation in races and training camps.
- Manage race entry procedures and logistics.
- Work with club leadership to develop budgets for away races and camps.
- Ensure appropriate athlete supervision and coaching support at competitions.
- Oversee athlete goal setting, evaluation, and performance tracking.

Coaching Staff Leadership

- Recruit, supervise, mentor, and develop coaching staff.
- Coordinate coach assignments and responsibilities.
- Set performance expectations and conduct annual coach evaluations.
- Maintain coach certification records and required documentation.
- Foster strong communication and partnerships among coaches, athletes, families and broader Ski Wentworth & Alpine racing communities.
- Ensure compliance with WSRC policies, employment standards, and applicable regulations.

Equipment & Operations

- Oversee the inventory and maintenance of club training equipment.
- Identify equipment needs and make recommendations for future purchases.
- Coordinate equipment loans and repairs when required.
- Support safe and efficient training and competition operations.

Administration & Communication

- Serve as a key point of contact for athletes,



families, coaches, and partners.
- Attend Board meetings as requested and provide program updates.
- Prepare regular reports on programming, staffing, equipment, and budget performance.
- Ensure compliance with Alpine Canada, Ski Nova Scotia, insurance requirements, and club policies.
- Maintain strong working relationships with Ski Wentworth, other clubs, and provincial ski organizations.
- Coordinate with Ski Wentworth representatives to secure and schedule hill space for training, events and camps.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring:

- Solid knowledge of alpine ski racing and athlete development programs.
- Coaching experience in competitive alpine skiing.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience supervising and mentoring staff or volunteers.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with athletes, parents, coaches, and stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Commitment to athlete safety and positive sport principles.
- Current standard First Aid and CPR certification
- Current criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.

Additional Assets

- Alpine Canada coaching certifications or willingness to obtain required certification.
- Experience working with ski clubs, provincial sport organizations, or youth sport programs.

Compensation
Compensation is structured as a combination of an annual administrative salary and paid on-snow coaching days. The overall compensation package will reflect the scope of administrative responsibilities, coaching qualifications, experience, and the number of scheduled on-snow coaching days.
