Job Description

Department of Anesthesia, McMaster University

Full-Time Anesthesiologist and Established Researcher

The Faculty of Health Sciences is dedicated to educational excellence and driving innovative research. Our Guiding Purpose states: “In health sciences education, research and clinical practice, we are here to question, learn, discover, communicate and lead.”

McMaster University, Department of Anesthesia, in conjunction with Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation (HHSC) invites applications for a full-time anesthesiologist eligible for CPSO licensing, FRCPC accreditation an asset, and with an established research portfolio to join our team. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. This position is for a term of three years (renewable) and participates in the clinical practice plan of the McMaster University, Department of Anesthesia, as well as the alternate funding plan of the Hamilton Anesthesia Associates. Remuneration is commensurate with the planned clinical services over an academic/clinical year.

The successful candidate will have experience training postgraduate and undergraduate learners and supervising research projects. A research focus on perioperative patient outcomes, and a desire to develop reliable, affordable and accessible point-of-care diagnostic tools is essential in both the research and clinical services fields.

This role will need to demonstrate a collaborative approach across multi-disciplinary clinical care and research. Demonstrated experience within a research institute is an asset and may include experience in research with the Population Health Research Institute (PHRI) or similar institutes. The commitment for the continued development of grants and research projects is supported with protected time and potential funding through the alternate funding plan of the Hamilton Anesthesia Associates.

In addition, research is carried out by some department members in collaboration with the Population Health Research Institute and other medical and surgical specialties.
