Job Summary

CW Kitchens is looking for a Custom Cabinetry Engineer to join our product engineering team and play a key role in translating designs into buildable, production-ready cabinetry. This role sits at the intersection of design and manufacturing: you'll interpret floorplans and architectural drawings, build accurate cabinetry layouts and shop drawings, and make sure every design is optimized for how our shop actually builds product.

We're less concerned with which specific software you've used and more interested in how you think. If you're genuinely tech-savvy, pick up new systems quickly, understand (or want to deeply understand) how cabinets are actually built, and have the curiosity and initiative to spot a better way of doing things, we want to talk to you. Experience with Cabinet Vision is a strong asset, but we regularly consider candidates coming from Microvellum, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or comparable drafting/engineering platforms. The underlying skill set transfers, and we'll support you in getting fluent in our tools.

This role can grow. You'll start as part of our engineering team working alongside our other drafters/engineers; for the right person, there is a real path to leading that team of three as your product knowledge, software fluency, and judgment develop.

Key Responsibilities

- Interpret floorplans, architectural drawings, and design intent to develop accurate, buildable cabinetry layouts.
- Create detailed engineering drawings, shop drawings, cut lists, and bills of materials using our drafting/engineering software (Cabinet Vision).
- Ensure every design is structurally sound, dimensionally accurate, and optimized for productive production and installation.
- Catch and resolve design or engineering issues before they reach the shop floor, problems are far cheaper to fix on screen than in material.
- Collaborate closely with designers, sales, production,

and installation teams to make sure what's engineered matches what was sold and what can be built.
- Bring initiative to the role: identify inefficiencies in current construction methods, drawing standards, or workflows, and help build better ones.
- Stay current on cabinetry construction methods, materials, hardware, and relevant software/technology, and bring new ideas back to the team.
- As experience grows, mentor other drafters/engineers and take on a leadership role for the team, including reviewing others' work and coordinating priorities.

What You Bring

- Solid understanding of cabinetry construction: frameless construction, joinery methods, hardware, and materials.
- Genuine technical aptitude - comfortable in CAD/drafting or engineering software and quick to learn new systems. Experience with Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar is highly relevant.
- Strong spatial reasoning: the ability to look at a floorplan or drawing and visualize how cabinetry components fit together in a real space.
- Curiosity and initiative - you notice when something could be done better and you take the first step toward fixing it, rather than waiting to be told.
- Sharp attention to detail and solid problem-solving instincts; small errors in this role become expensive mistakes on the shop floor.
- Clear communicator, able to work effectively across design, sales, production, and installation teams.
- Comfortable working as part of a team, with the capability (and interest) to eventually lead one.

Requirements

- Direct experience with Cabinet Vision or similar Cad software.
- Exposure to CNC programming or nesting software.
- Prior experience in cabinetry, woodworking, or millwork manufacturing.
- Cabinet construction knowledge.

Pay: Up to $28.00 per hour

Benefits:

- Casual dress
- Extended health care
- Life insurance
- On-site parking
- Paid time off

Work Location: In person
