About the Role
Murray’s Windermere Gardens is seeking a reliable, compassionate, and professional Community Residential Facility (CRF) Support Worker to join our team.
The CRF Support Worker plays an important role in maintaining a safe, clean, and respectful residential environment while supporting residents with their daily needs. This is a non-clinical support position that combines medication support, meal service, documentation, and general resident assistance.
The successful candidate will be dependable, comfortable working independently, and able to interact respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varying support needs.
What You'll Do
Resident & General Support
- Provide respectful and professional support to residents throughout the shift.
- Promote a safe, positive, and respectful living environment.
- Communicate resident concerns or changes appropriately to the supervisor or designated staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect resident privacy at all times.
Medication Support
- Complete scheduled medication passes in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Observe residents taking medications as required.
- Complete and maintain accurate Medication Administration Records (MARs).
- Follow medication safety and documentation procedures.
- Report medication concerns, discrepancies, or incidents promptly.
- Communicate with pharmacy and leadership regarding medication or prescription updates.
- Maintain the security and organization of medication carts and supplies.
Meal & Kitchen Support
- Assist with meal preparation, setup, serving, and cleanup.
- Wash dishes and maintain clean kitchen and dining areas.
- Communicate dietary concerns or issues to appropriate staff.
Housekeeping & Environmental Support
-Clean common areas, washrooms, offices, and program spaces.
- Sweep, mop,
disinfect high-touch surfaces, and remove garbage and recycling.
- Assist with laundry as required.
- Participate in scheduled deep cleaning and infection prevention activities.
- Complete bed bug checks and follow established infection control procedures.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized residence.
Health, Safety & Documentation
- Follow all workplace health and safety and infection prevention procedures.
- Respond to emergencies in accordance with training and organizational protocols.
- Complete required documentation accurately and before the end of the shift.
- Communicate effectively with team members during shift transitions.
- Attend required training and staff meetings.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) program or equivalent relevant education/training and experience, such as UCP, DSW, or SSW.
- Previous experience in residential, community support, social services, or a similar environment is an asset.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Ability to obtain any required security or reliability clearance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while following established policies and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly with documentation and medication-related responsibilities.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Comfortable working in a residential environment and supporting individuals with diverse needs.
Required Training
Successful candidates will complete paid orientation and mandatory organizational training, including:
- Medication support and MediSystem procedures
- Naloxone administration
- Workplace policies and procedures
- Health and safety procedures
- Additional training as required
Training such as NVCI or ASIST is considered an asset.
Schedule & Availability
Current scheduled shifts include:
- Morning: 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
- Evening: 3:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Availability for weekends and holidays may be required.
Depending on operational needs, employees may be scheduled for split shifts or combined/extended shifts. Employees are expected to remain alert, present, and fit for duty for the entire scheduled shift.
Employment Requirements
Successful candidates must:
- Successfully complete a 180-day probationary period.
- Provide required identification, references, and background screening documentation
- Remain fit for duty and able to safely perform the responsibilities of the position.
Important Information
This position is non-clinical. CRF Support Workers do not perform advanced clinical or nursing duties unless specifically trained, delegated, and authorized to do so.
Job duties may change from time to time based on resident needs, operational requirements, organizational policies, or regulatory requirements. Appropriate training and support will be provided when new responsibilities require additional skills or knowledge.
