Position Summary

IAT Global Manufacturing is seeking a CNC Operator to set up and run CNC machining centres producing precision components for custom tooling, fixtures, and automation equipment. Work is primarily low-volume and high-mix — often one-off or small-batch parts built to tight tolerances from engineering drawings. This role suits someone who takes pride in holding tolerance, reads drawings confidently, and wants variety rather than repetition.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC machining centres (mill and/or lathe) to produce precision components to drawing specification

Read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T;, tolerances, surface finish callouts, and datum references

Load and prove out programs, set work offsets and tool offsets, and make dimensional adjustments to hold tolerance

Select, install, and inspect cutting tools; monitor tool wear and replace as required

Load, locate, and clamp workpieces using vises, fixtures, and precision workholding

Perform in-process and first-article inspection using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, indicators, and gauge pins

Machine a range of materials including alloy and tool steels (e.g., 4140), stainless, cast iron, and aluminum

Document inspection results, setup sheets, and any non-conformances

Communicate with programming, engineering, and quality on drawing questions, fit issues, or process improvements

Perform routine machine maintenance — coolant levels and concentration, chip removal, lubrication, filter checks

Maintain a clean,

organized, and safe work area in accordance with health and safety policies

Support continuous improvement in cycle time, tooling selection, and setup efficiency

Qualifications

Required:

Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing workplace

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T;

Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and ability to work to tight tolerances

Working knowledge of speeds, feeds, and tooling selection for a range of materials

Comfortable making offset adjustments and troubleshooting dimensional issues independently

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Reliable attendance and willingness to support overtime as production requires

Preferred:

General Machinist (429A) certificate of qualification or completed apprenticeship

Experience with Fanuc, Heidenhain, Siemens, or Mazatrol controls

Experience editing G-code at the machine and/or working knowledge of CAM software (Mastercam, NX, Esprit)

Experience with 4-axis or 5-axis work, horizontal machining centres, or pallet-based systems

Background in tooling, fixtures, jigs, or low-volume/high-mix job shop work

Experience in automotive, aerospace, or heavy industrial manufacturing

Familiarity with CMM inspection or working alongside a quality department on first articles

Pay: $20.00-$26.00 per hour

Benefits:

- Dental care
- On-site parking
- RRSP match
- Vision care
