Summary
Amrize is looking for a safe, reliable, motivated, and flexible individual to join our team as a plant labourer at our Moodie plant in Ottawa. The successful candidate will assist in the day to day operations of the plant in accordance with Amrize’s Best Practices and Policies. The employee will be performing various tasks and given responsibilities that the employee can prioritize and execute based on the level of importance at the given time.
Responsibilities
Safety: Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, JHSC, subcontractors and suppliers, implementation and maintenance of local and regional initiatives with an objective of “zero” safety incidents. Administer and promote safety policies, processes and review procedures to ensure that site meets or exceeds all Amrize and Regulatory guidelines. Ensure that the site is kept safe, presentable, and functional.
Site Operations: Assist in any task related to day to day operations and maintaining, enhancing, or improving the condition of the plant. Some of the tasks involved include but is not limited to:
- Producing concrete blocks
- Acting as a relief batcher when needed
- Light maintenance of machinery
- Sweeping/cleaning/organizing
- Some office tasks
- Some handling of bagged ice (20kg bags)
- Shoveling
- Operating a forklift/telehandler
- Potential to learn front end loader
Environmental Management: Ensure that site meets or exceeds all Amrize and Regulatory guidelines. This may include light housekeeping duties
Equipment: Operate a telehandler or forklift.
Perform daily inspections as part of our preventative maintenance program to ensure machine is secure to operate and identify potential issues.
Applicants will be exposed to manual labor that includes heavy lifting, bending, and twisting while being indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions.
Applicant must be able to lift 60lbs unassisted and be able to ascend and descent a ladder.
Applicants must have a valid G license in order to operate mobile equipment.
Applicants must have access to reliable transportation.
Employee will be asked to assist at other plants within the network as required. Travel mileage will be compensation. Hours may vary at different locations from home base.
Night and weekend work may be required.

- This position requires extensive liaison with drivers and batchers
Specific Accountabilities:
- Safety: Near Miss and HI process, MVA’s, FA’s, MI’s, LTI’s, Daily Safety Huddles, Risk Assessments, Confined Space and WAH permits
Qualification Profile:
Education & Work Experience:
Canadian secondary school diploma or equivalent
Heavy equipment operation experience an asset. Especially telehandler training
Knowledge & Skills:
