As a Data Strategist, you will design and develop unified data models and semantic layers to support Water Services' operational and strategic reporting needs. Working closely with Information Technology (IT), you will guide the design of data flows, pipelines, and integration frameworks while maintaining a scalable and reliable data ecosystem. You will collaborate with business units to align data models with strategic goals and integrate them with enterprise data management tools such as Denodo. Primary duties include:
- Develop and maintain Business Intelligence (BI) products that deliver actionable insights.
- Translate data requirements into robust scalable solutions.
- Monitor data quality and pipeline performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Create interactive dashboards that track progress against strategic goals.
- Offer technical leadership for BI, data architecture and meta data management.
- Establish and oversee Water Services data governance framework, embedding Role-Level Security (RLS) and access controls to safeguard data integrity, ensure compliance with corporate standards, and maintain trusted, well-governed data.
- Research and evaluate emerging data best practices and technologies to strengthen the Utility's data stewardship, compliance, and data management framework.
Qualifications
- A degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field and at least 5 years of experience in areas such as data analysis and modeling for reporting programs.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI and Structured Query Language (SQL) is required.
- Experience developing and supporting a Data Strategy and Data Governance framework.
- Experience eliciting business and technical requirements related to data management with a focus on identifying Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Success in this position requires solid communication skills, sound decision making, critical thinking and problem-solving, and the ability to build strong, collaborative working relationships.

- This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.
