We are currently experiencing a high demand for PSWs to support shifts in local retirement home settings.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Personal Care: Partner with residents to assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and transfers.
Medication Administration: Distribute medications securely according to established residence policies and procedures (depending on home).
Health & Wellness: Observe and document any changes in residents' cognitive, physical, or emotional behavior, reporting them immediately to the nursing team.
Housekeeping & Dining: Assist with light housekeeping in resident rooms, laundry, and help during dining and meal service times.
Life Enrichment:
Support and engage residents in recreational and social activities to foster independence and connection.
REQUIREMENTS
- 1 year of experience (excluding clinical hours) in LTC or retirement home preferred
- Valid Personal Support Worker (PSW) certification or equivalent
- Knowledge of basic care procedures and bedside support
- Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last 6 months
- Negative 2 step baseline TB test
- Negative TB test or Chest X-ray within the last year
- Current First Aid & CPR level C within last year
- Legal “Right to Work” in Canada (visa sponsorship not available)
- Access to a vehicle or valid driver’s licence is an asset or public transportation available
- Flexibility with scheduling shifts with our homes
- Interpersonal skills - empathy, organization, and communication skills required
- Physical capabilities - ability to stand & walk for extended periods of time. Perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, and carrying.
SHIFTS
- Full-time, Part-time, and Casual positions available across 10 retirement homes in the Ottawa Valley.
- Shift availability - Days, Evenings, & Nights, 7 days a week.
