The Harm Reduction Coordinator reports to the Prevention Program Manager and is responsible for the delivery, coordination, and promotion of harm reduction services throughout the region. The Coordinator works directly with individuals and communities to reduce the transmission of HIV, Hepatitis C, and other sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs) through education, outreach, distribution of harm reduction supplies, and referral to appropriate health and social services.

The Coordinator supports the organization's harm reduction initiatives through community engagement, mobile outreach services, client education, HIV self-testing program support, and collaboration with community partners. This position requires a non-judgmental, client-centered approach and a commitment to harm reduction principles.

Key Responsibilities

Harm Reduction Services

● Coordinate and take the lead in harm reduction outreach activities, including mobile outreach services, drug checking programs and community-based distribution programs.

● Ensure individuals have timely access to safer substance use supplies, safer sex supplies, naloxone kits, and other harm reduction resources.

● Provide one-on-one education and support related to safer substance use, overdose prevention, drug checking program, sexual health, HIV, Hepatitis C, and other STBBIs.

● Assist clients in accessing healthcare, treatment, testing, housing, and other community support services through referrals and system navigation.

HIV Self-Testing Program Support

● Provide logistical and administrative support to the Education Coordinator for HIV self-testing initiatives.





● Maintain program databases, distribution records, and email communications related to HIV self-testing.

● Follow up with participants, where appropriate, to confirm receipt of testing kits and facilitate connections to relevant health services, including HIV care, treatment, prevention services, and PrEP. ● Assist with the promotion, evaluation, and reporting requirements of HIV self-testing programs.

Community Outreach and Education

● Deliver presentations, workshops, and educational sessions on harm reduction, overdose prevention, safer sex, HIV, Hepatitis C, and related topics.

● Provide naloxone training to community members, organizations, and partner agencies. ● Plan and take part in community events, meetings, and outreach activities to increase awareness of available services and resources.

● Support the Education Coordinator with program promotion, pop-up events, educational initiatives, and evaluation activities.

Administrative and Organizational Support

● Respond to telephone, email, and online inquiries in a skilled and timely manner. ● Maintain accurate client, program, and distribution records in accordance with organizational policies and confidentiality requirements.





● Assist with social media updates and communication activities as assigned.

● Contribute to organizational reporting, program evaluation, and quality improvement activities.

Professional Development

● Participate in ongoing training and professional development related to harm reduction, HIV, Hepatitis C, STBBIs, substance use, trauma-informed care, and community-based service delivery. ● Maintain required certifications and competencies relevant to the position.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.02 per hour
