Job Summary

The Purchaser / Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing tooling components, raw materials, equipment, supplies, and services required to support toolroom operations. This role ensures the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials needed to support tooling builds, repairs, maintenance activities, production requirements, and customer commitments.

Reporting to the Toolroom Manager, the Purchaser / Buyer works closely with Toolroom, Production, Maintenance and Engineering to ensure material availability, manage supplier relationships, and support the day-to-day operational needs of Egar Tool & Die's automotive stamping and assembly operations.

Purchasing & Procurement

· Source, evaluate, and select suppliers capable of meeting quality, delivery, and cost requirements.

· Obtain and review quotations, negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and service agreements.

· Issue and manage purchase orders for tooling components, maintenance supplies, subcontracted services, and capital equipment.

· Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.

· Analyze supplier performance and address issues relating to quality, cost, delivery, or service.

· Maintain accurate purchasing records within the ERP system.

· Develop and maintain strong working relationships with approved suppliers.

Production & Inventory Support

· Coordinate primarily with the Toolroom Manager to ensure tooling components, materials, and services are available to support tool builds,



repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities.

· Support production and maintenance departments by procuring required materials, consumables, replacement parts, and services as needed.

· Monitor inventory levels and initiate replenishment activities to avoid shortages or operational disruptions.

· Review material requirements and place orders to support tooling, maintenance, and production schedules.

· Identify and communicate potential material shortages, supplier delays, or delivery concerns.

· Assist with maintaining inventory accuracy through regular review of stock levels and purchasing records.

· Work with internal departments to resolve material availability issues.

Supplier Quality & Performance

· Monitor supplier performance relating to quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost.

· Assist with supplier evaluations and approval processes as required.

· Ensure purchased materials and services meet company and customer specifications.

Administration & Communication

· Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and supplier records.

· Communicate effectively with internal departments regarding material availability, lead times, pricing changes, and supplier issues.

Qualifications

· Minimum 3-5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.

· Experience supporting toolrooms, automotive stamping operations, metal forming, tooling, maintenance, or assembly operations preferred.

· Strong understanding of purchasing processes, inventory control, and supplier management.

· Experience negotiating pricing, delivery schedules, and supplier agreements.

· Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Purchasing, Manufacturing, or a related field is considered an asset.

· Experience using ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.

· Familiarity with tooling components, machining processes, maintenance requirements, and manufacturing materials is strongly preferred.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
