To assist in leading the Christian Education programming at Kingston Road United Church in Toronto.
The Christian Education Co-Lead, is responsible for co-leading a Sunday School group on a weekly basis, comprised of children ranging from nursery to youth group ages from September to June and two weeks in July and August, respectively. Typical duties include coordinating responsibilities with the other Co-Lead, planning and implementing Sunday morning programming in coordination with the Minister and broader ministry themes, recruiting volunteers for programming as required, and communicating with the Christian Education Committee to provide updates that can be shared with church council and in the newsletter bulletin.
The Co-Lead will also be responsible for co-leading, planning and executing 3-4 family events per calendar year (i.e. spring, fall and Christmas events and coordinating the Advent play) as well as setting up a children’s ministry table at two Kingston Road street festivals per year.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children, some with special needs.
- Experience in a collaborative team environment.
- Experience as a group facilitator.
- Experience and training in effective communication including giving and receiving feedback and conflict resolution.
- 2-years of faith formation / Christian education experience preferred.
- 2-years training or relevant experience in providing resource and planning support / within a Christian context preferred.
- Experience and training in responding to disclosures of abuse from children as laid out in a policies and procedures manual.
- Where specific qualifications are not available, a demonstrated aptitude and willingness to learn will be considered.

- Skill at working with biblical and theological concepts and stories.
- Proven communication and conflict resolution skills with individuals and groups.
- Ability to organize and be attentive to detail.

- Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Accountability
This position reports directly and is accountable to the Christian Education Committee, the Minister and M&P; (Human Resources) Committee.
Pay: $22.00 per hour
