We are a well-established and growing industrial manufacturing company in Cambridge, Ontario seeking an experienced Intermediate/Senior Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. This position is ideal for a procurement professional with 3-7 years of purchasing experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, particularly with steel, fabricated components, MRO, and engineered products.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the uninterrupted supply of materials and services required for production while developing strong supplier relationships, negotiating favourable pricing, and driving continuous improvements throughout the purchasing process.

Key Responsibilities

- Source and purchase raw materials, fabricated components, MRO supplies, and production-related services.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers while evaluating performance, quality, pricing, and delivery.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, and supply agreements to achieve cost savings and maximize value.
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of materials while proactively managing supply risks and shortages.
- Issue purchase orders and monitor open orders to ensure on-time delivery.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Inventory Control, and Quality to coordinate material requirements and resolve supply issues.
- Resolve supplier quality concerns, non-conformances, and return authorizations.
- Monitor inventory levels and recommend replenishment strategies for MRO and production materials.
- Review purchasing trends and identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.
- Prepare purchasing reports, supplier performance metrics, and cost-saving analyses.




- Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier documentation.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, approved authorization levels, and applicable industry standards.
- Meet with supplier representatives to stay current on products, pricing, market conditions, and new sourcing opportunities.

Qualifications

- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 3-7 years of purchasing experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience purchasing steel, industrial materials, fabricated components, MRO supplies, or similar manufacturing commodities.
- Solid understanding of procurement, inventory management, supplier development, and supply chain principles.
- Demonstrated success negotiating supplier pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and procurement software.
- Robust analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Pay: $70,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
