RANGELAND TRUCK AND CRANE

Canada

Rangeland Truck & Crane is a leader in heavy haul, crane, and specialized transport across Western Canada and the USA. We operate serious equipment and expect apprentices who want to learn in a real‑world, high‑pressure environment — not just turn wrenches in a dealership bay.

We are hiring a 2nd or 3rd Year Apprentice Heavy Equipment/Truck Mechanic to support our growing fleet of heavy‑haul tractors, winch trucks, cranes, and specialized trailers.

Role Overview

You will work alongside senior mechanics performing repairs, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on heavy‑haul units and crane support equipment. This is hands‑on, high‑value apprenticeship experience with exposure to complex hydraulics, PTO systems, multi‑axle trailers, and cross‑border heavy‑haul operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with diagnostics — Electrical, hydraulic, engine troubleshooting
- Support heavy‑haul tractor repairs — Western Star, Kenworth, Peterbilt
- Crane & rigging support — Hydraulics, winches, PTO systems
- Trailer service — Jeeps, boosters, multi‑axle configurations
- Shop maintenance — Tooling, equipment setup, parts organization

- Preventative maintenance — CVIP prep, inspections, service intervals
- Field support — Assist senior mechanics on breakdowns and job‑site repairs

Qualifications

- Registered 2nd or 3rd Year Apprentice (Heavy Equipment Technician or Truck & Transport)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn heavy‑haul systems
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, operational environment
- Basic understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems
- Valid driver’s licence; Class 1 an asset
- Must be reliable, safety‑focused, and able to follow direction

What We Offer

- Competitive apprentice wages
- Overtime opportunities
- Full benefits package
- Real heavy‑haul experience — not dealership work
- Exposure to cranes, winch tractors, multi‑axle trailers, and cross‑border operations
- Long‑term career growth into Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician

Pay: $25.00-$38.00 per hour

Benefits:

- Dental care
- Disability insurance
- Extended health care
- Life insurance
- In office parking
- Paid time off
- RRSP match
- Vision care
