Location: Port-O-Call Hotel, Nanaimo, BC
Employment Type: Seasonal Part Time (Position lasts until renovation project is completed)

Port-O-Call Hotel in Nanaimo is seeking a skilled and dependable Renovation & Maintenance Worker to join our team on a seasonal basis. We are looking for someone with hands-on renovation experience—preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting—who takes pride in quality workmanship and pays strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform interior and exterior painting
- Repair, patch, and finish drywall
- Refurbish and restore wooden structures, trim, and fixtures
- Assist with cement and minor concrete work
- Set up, prepare, and refresh guest rooms as needed
- Conduct general repairs and renovation tasks throughout the hotel
- Ensure all work meets safety standards and hotel quality expectations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track work orders and maintenance schedules.
- Assist with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; paints building structures




- Perform outside custodial duties such as snow removal as required
- Conduct and complete other works relevant and required of the position
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations within the facility.

Qualifications

- Proven experience in renovation, construction, or building maintenance
- Painting, drywall, carpentry, and light concrete/cement experience required
- Hotel renovation or hospitality maintenance experience is a strong asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Robust attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship
- Reliable, responsible, and safety-focused
- Able to lift, carry, and perform physical duties as needed

Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour

- Nanaimo, BC V9S 4K1: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

- Maintenance: 3 years (preferred)
