We currently have an opportunity for a construction Site Assistant. Our office is located in St. Albert, but we build across the Greater Edmonton Region.

Reporting to the Site Superintendent and Construction Manager, the Site Assistant is responsible for maintaining and improving a wide range of construction initiatives and tasks. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about new home construction, has a team-player personality with innovative ideas, and is committed to working hard.

Responsibilities:

- Aid in overseeing residential construction sites to ensure compliance with design, project specifications, regulations and safety codes;
- Plan, implement and monitor construction plans alongside the Site Supervisor;
- Aid in the management of construction site startup;
- Ensure that safe work practices and procedures are being followed onsite at all times;
- Aid in the coordination and direction of all construction workers on worksites;
- Ensure accurate and timely project close date; help to adjust working schedules to ensure deadlines are met;
- Work alongside the Site Supervisor to resolve any constructional issues that may arise;
- Help the Site Supervisor with jobsite administration duties such as timesheet completion for works and any daily logs that need to be maintained;
- Ensure proper manpower levels are available onsite each day to ensure constructional completion;
- Ensure proper materials and quantities of materials are onsite prior to daily work commencing;
- Participate in project meetings with internal and external parties to monitor and report on progression of building;
- Aid in the supervision of workers onsite;
- Help with the development, monitoring and overseeing quality control measures on worksites;
- Ensure inspections are completed periodically throughout the construction phases to ensure homes meet specifications of clients;
- Any other duties as required.

Requirements:

- Post-secondary degree in a construction related area of study an asset




- Minimum of 5 years of direct work experience working in residential construction an asset
- Previous experience overseeing construction worksites would be considered an asset
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, field drawings and plans an asset
- Desire to grow and learn
- Experience using small tools (skill saw, drill, etc)
- Provide own tools and vehicle

- Minor carpentry skills, including back-framing

- Able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs
- Effectiveness in the areas of construction safety and productivity
- Commitment to working in a team environment, with established team building abilities
- Strong communication, integration, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Strong dedication to health and safety in the workplace
- Results-oriented with the ability to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines
- Knowledge of OH&S; regulations and related residential building codes
- Ability to effectively communicate with site supervisor, management, technical, professional, and customers
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Possess a valid driver’s license and provide a drives abstract, and own a reliable vehicle

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
