Overview

A software development firm is seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer to help design and evolve scalable web platforms for its clients. This role suits a senior engineer who enjoys working across the stack - from Java-based microservices to high-performance front-ends in React and Next.js - on meaningful technical challenges within a collaborative engineering environment.

You will architect, develop, and maintain modern distributed systems that support evolving client requirements, bringing strong technical judgment, production-scale experience, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, maintainable software.

Responsibilities

● Design, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications across client engagements, using React, Next.js, TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

● Architect and build Java microservices with Spring Boot, and design RESTful APIs and service integrations for scalable, reliable distributed systems.

● Contribute to solution architecture and technical decision-making on client projects, applying modern engineering best practices.

● Deploy and operate backend services in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure, including containerized workloads.

● Integrate with data platforms and, where a project requires, AI/ML services and pipelines, working alongside AI and data engineers.

● Design and maintain database schemas and data models (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB) for performance and scalability.

● Collaborate within cross-functional delivery pods - delivery lead, designers, and QA - to translate client requirements into well-designed solutions.

● Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical planning, upholding high engineering standards.

● Troubleshoot complex production issues and optimize performance across the front-end and back-end.

● Maintain clear documentation of system architecture, APIs, and technical decisions.

Requirements

● 10+ years of professional software development experience,



including significant full-stack delivery.

● 8+ years of hands-on experience with Java, including Spring Boot and microservices-based architectures.

● Proven experience building modern front-end applications with React and Next.js.

● Deep understanding of RESTful API design, distributed systems, and service-oriented architecture.

● Experience deploying and operating applications in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.

● Strong experience with relational or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB), including schema design and performance optimization.

● Proficiency with Git-based workflows and collaborative development in Agile teams.

● Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance-optimization skills across the full stack.

● Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with distributed, remote teams.

Preferred experience

● Containerization and orchestration with Docker or Kubernetes.

● CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows.

● Supporting production systems at scale - monitoring, logging, and performance tuning.

● Event-driven systems or messaging platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.

● Exposure to AI/ML integration or data-intensive applications.

Engagement details

Role type: Part Time, approximately 20 hours per week.

Work environment: Remote, with hybrid as project needs require.

This role is well suited to a senior engineer who enjoys working across the stack and contributing to architecture without the constraints of a traditional full time role.
