Your Opportunity:

Under the direction of the Clinical Manager, the Clinical Information Specialist I (CIRS-I) provides expert consultation and guidance in poison and toxicology through telephone-based services to both the public and healthcare professionals across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories. CIRS-I staff may also provide information and support related to occupational toxicology. Individuals in this role at PADIS have either a pharmacy or nursing background.

Description:

As a Clinical Information Resource Specialist I with the Poison and Drug Information Service (PADIS) team, you will provide expert consultative services regarding poison and toxicology, and occupational toxicology via telephone to both the public and health care professionals. In the CIRSI position, you will extract, interpret, and summarize the most up-to-date medical resources and latest research when providing information, treatment options and recommendations about exposure to poisons, chemicals or toxins, prescription and over the counter medications.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Nursing or Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable college. Emergency/ICU or critical care nursing experience and/or drug information background.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Creative, flexible, well-organized, and demonstrated systems thinker. Excellent communication & interpersonal skills including providing peer feedback. Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach staff. Must have a minimum typing speed of 35 WPM. Must be valuable with technology including intermediate computer skills, experience with Connect Care/MS Teams/Netcare/Genesys is an asset. Certified Specialist in Poison Information (CSPI) designation is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong clinical assessment skills and working knowledge of pharmacy. Proven ability to build and foster reciprocal relationships and build consensus. Proven ability to work collaboratively with team members, peers and both internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated independence. Emergency and/or Critical Care experience for registered nurses, preferably within the last 5 years.
