Job Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to fill the position of General Manager. The successful candidate will provide overall strategic, operational, and financial leadership to optimize the business network, drive commercial growth, and ensure the efficient movement of freight. This executive-level role involves ultimate accountability for terminal performance, resource allocation, regulatory compliance, P&L; management, and long-term organizational strategy. The ideal candidate will have strong executive leadership skills, extensive operational experience, and a comprehensive understanding of transportation logistics and general business management.

Key Responsibilities:

*Operations Management

- Develop and implement strategies to optimize terminal operations, yard management, dispatching, routing, freight handling, and equipment utilization.

- Develop and execute short- and long-term operational plans aligned with company strategy.

- Ensure optimal staffing levels and resource allocation to manage fluctuating freight volumes.

- Monitor operational KPIs including productivity, service levels, damages, freight flow, and trailer turnaround times

- Develop and lead logistical plans for peak shipping periods, service disruptions, and high-volume conditions.

- Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes and workflow efficiency.

- Identify and manage risk through business interruption and crisis management planning and implement contingency plans.





- Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance the overall effectiveness and efficiency of transportation logistics operations.

- Utilize strong analytical skills to analyze logistics data, identify trends, and generate reports for management review. Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.

*Freight and Transportation Management

- Apply strong knowledge of freight handling, routing strategies, and load planning..

- Review manifests, load plans, driver logs, trailer utilization, and dispatch metrics to develop key insights that lead to operational efficiencies.

- Identify potential network bottlenecks, volume fluctuations, and operational risks.

- Ensure efficient movement of freight across terminals and outbound transportation networks.

- Collaborate closely with dispatch and transportation teams to maintain service reliability.

*Safety and Regulatory Compliance

- Champion a strong safety culture across the terminals.

- Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and municipal transportation regulations.

- Maintain compliance with NSC (National Safety Code) requirements and internal safety programs.

- Ensure safe work procedures, and incident prevention practices.

*People leadership and collaboration

- Collaborate with a team of supervisors, dispatchers, and frontline logistics employees.

- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of staff.

- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance management to build a high-performing team.

- Foster a respectful,



collaborative workplace culture focused on accountability and engagement.

*Customer and Stakeholder Engagement

- Maintain strong relationships with key customers and service partners.

- Address service issues quickly and identify root causes.

- Collaborate with customers to ensure operational alignment with service expectations.

- Work cross-functionally with operations, safety, maintenance, and management teams to support service delivery.

Qualifications:

- Minimum 5+ years of management experience in transportation, logistics, or terminal operations.. - Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.- Proven leadership experience managing operational teams.- Strong ability to lead in rapid-paced, high-volume environments.

- Experience coaching, training, and developing employees.

- High emotional intelligence, resilience, and execution focus.

Education & Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field preferred.

- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in managing complex transportation networks.

- Strong understanding of transportation planning, forecasting, and logistics networks.

- Knowledge of yard operations, fleet operations, and routing software.

- Proven track record in driving down costs, optimizing logistics operations, and exceeding customer expectations.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and leverage data to drive informed decisions

- Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to various stakeholders.

Work Schedule:

- 45 hours a week

- May require after-hours availability to address urgent transportation issues.

Pay: $110,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
