Description

This role provides property maintenance services to an estate/farm property located near the Blue Mountain/Collingwood town line under the direction of a Farm Manager.

Requirements

Full time work - typically 40 hours Monday through Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm (Summer) and 5 am, 6 am or 7 am starts in Winter (weather dependent - still 8 hour shifts)

*Longer days and weekend work sometimes required to meet operational needs

Ability to provide own transportation to and from work

Must currently live in local area (30 min. drive max)

Possess a valid G license

No issues working in a physically demanding role in all varieties of weather from heat to cold and rain to snow

Possess CSA approved safety footwear and appropriate weather-related gear

Qualifications

Previous experience in a property maintenance or farming role an asset

Ability to operate larger tractor & implements and truck/plow an asset

Chainsaw experience an asset

*Training provided regardless

Responsibilities

Property Maintenance Duties

Summer

- Spring and fall Cleanups - Blowing, raking and general debris removal
- Cutting and trimming with handheld, push and ride-on equipment
- Forestry related duties – Chainsaw work typically to fallen trees or to prepare firewood for splitting, pruning, hauling and splitting wood
- Watering of annuals and newly planted trees and shrubs
- Occasional gardening possible
- Landscape tasks ranging from softscaping (planting of plants and trees)



to minor hardscape installs and repairs
- Maintenance of gravel roadways

Winter

- Plowing and/or blowing drives with truck/tractor
- Shovelling walkways, decks and stairs
- Applying sand both manually and with equipment (ice melting where required)
- Documenting activities

Farming Duties

- Handling hay bales both manually and with equipment
- The hauling and transfer of manure (with various pieces of equipment)
- Maintenance duties related to paddocks and other farm structures (typically minor repairs and painting)
- Assisting in horse barn (possible) - Cleaning stalls and similar duties
- Other farm related tasks as required both manual and with equipment

General Duties

- Routine inspections of property and buildings
- Cleaning buildings and equipment as required
- Building and equipment maintenance

Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

A self starter

Good communication skills

Conduct and present oneself in a professional and respectful manner to co-workers, on-site contractors, family and visitors

A commitment to utilizing safety equipment and working in a safe manner at all times

Compensation

$22 per hour
