Position Overview:

Entrust is seeking highly motivated Junior to intermediate Software Development to join our Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Cryptography R&D; team in Ottawa. This role operates within one of Entrust’s core security domains, contributing directly to the design, implementation, and validation of security‑critical systems used by enterprise and government customers worldwide.

You will work alongside senior engineers and architects on advanced PKI platforms and cryptographic solutions, including post‑quantum cryptography (PQC) initiatives, gaining hands-on experience in cutting-edge security technologies while contributing meaningful deliverables to production-grade systems.

Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and test components within Entrust PKI and cryptographic products

- Contribute to backend systems and services using C, C++, and/or Java

- Contribute to the adoption of AI tools and practices in the SDLC

- Implement features related to certificate management, key management, and secure communications

- Implement and validate cryptographic algorithms and protocols (e.g., X.509, TLS, CMP, OCSP)

- Contribute to Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) experimentation, prototyping, and productization

Basic Qualifications:

- Computer Science or Software Engineering degree

- 2 years programming experience in C/C++ and/or Java (multi-language fluency preferred)

- Working experience with PKI concepts and cryptographic algorithms

- Experience contributing to research projects, open-source, or advanced academic work

- Familiarity with Linux/Unix or Windows development environments

- Familiarity with Agile development practices,



code review processes, and version control systems

Preferred Qualifications (High Differentiators):

- Experience with Entrust PKI products

- Experience working with cryptographic libraries and open-source modules (e.g., OpenSSL, OQS, Jostle)

- Exposure to security protocols and standards (TLS, X.509, certificate enrollment protocols)

- Working experience planning, developing, testing with AI tools

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a highly specialized team

- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills in complex technical domains

Location: Hybrid – Ottawa, Ontario (3 days per week in the office)

Compensation Range:

The pay range for this position is $86,000 - $126,000 per year. This position is also eligible for the company's discretionary annual incentive plan. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, skills and experience. In addition to your pay, Entrust offers eligible colleagues and their dependents comprehensive benefits, vacation, paid time off and paid holidays. Please speak with the recruiter for more details.
