ACCOUNTANT
Position Summary
At Airdrie Christian Academy, our mission is to disciple generations for Christ by providing excellent education in a faith-based environment. The Accountant plays a vital role in maintaining the financial records of the school. This full-time position is responsible for tracking and recording of all school revenues and expenses as well as in completing various financial tasks and functions. This position requires strong accounting, bookkeeping and spreadsheet knowledge and skills, and excellent attention to detail, superior organizational skills, and a steadfast commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and service excellence.
Reporting Structure
The Accountant position reports to the Finance Director.

Qualified Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in accounting or a related field with concentration/emphasis on core accounting courses is mandatory.
- Minimum 3 years work experience in Accounting and/or Bookkeeping is a must.
- Strong understanding of Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Proficient in QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Capable of working on Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
- Skilled in managing multiple priorities accurately and in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
Financial tasks:
- Complete full-cycle accounting operations, directly overseeing AR and AP functions to optimize collections and ensure timely vendor payments.
- Maintain integrity of the General Ledger and supporting financial records.
- Review and authorize monthly journal entries.
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations and resolve variances.
- Generate monthly financial statements and other reports as needed.
- Supervise Bookkeepers, establish cross training, and ensure coverage for absences.
- Make bank deposits and ensure all incoming funds are received and deposited.
- Issue official Charitable Donation tax receipts in compliance with guidelines.
- Provide support for other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Internal Controls:
- Enforce internal controls to protect assets and minimize financial risks.
- Follow established policies, procedures and best practices regarding internal controls.
- Provide input and recommendations to leadership on process improvements.
- Respond to queries and maintain excellent internal and external relations.
- Meet regularly with the direct supervisor for performance evaluation.
- Pursue opportunities for professional growth.
Spiritual Responsibilities:
- Model a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ in speech, actions, and attitude.
- Demonstrate the importance of Scripture, prayer, fellowship, and Christian service.
- Participate in scheduled devotionals and school meetings.
Compensation: Based on Experience and Education
FTE: 1.00
Work Hours: 40 hours / per week for 12 months each year with 4 weeks of vacation.
