As a Specialty Geotechnical drilling/construction company we are seeking a highly skilled, progressive and detail-oriented CPA to oversee our company's financial operations as Controller. The ideal candidate will be a qualified CPA with 2 to 5 years of experience. You will be responsible for leading and managing the accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, while supervising staff effectively in a cohesive team environment. This role requires strong expertise in accounting software and Excel with good insightful financial analysis to support good decision-making and operational efficiency.

$95,000–$120,000 annually - Full-time, plus eligible benefits, flexible, depending on experience, flexible start date preferable September 2026 or sooner.

FOUNDEX ENVIRONMENT:

- Construction industry
- Stable organization with low employee turnover with approximately 40 employees
- Established accounting team – 3 to 4 employees

- QuickBooks Pro Contractors, Office 365, Offsite IT
- Working Office hours: 7:30am to 5:00pm with 1 hr lunch

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Budgeting and Forecasting

- Develop and execute the finance strategy aligned with the overall Company’s vision and strategic business plan.
- Analysis of budgets, forecasts and to support optimal profitability and awareness of important financial matters

Cash Flow Management

- Oversee the biweekly cashflow and strategy, A/P payments and A/R collections, monthly revenue review, and forecast model updates, for decision making/review and forecasting, and capital asset budgeting & needed financing.
- Bank authorized cheque signer and electronic authorization approvals for payments/transactions.
- Credit Card reconciliations

Financial Reporting

- Report directly to the President, and act as a liaison between Accounting, the President, and the shareholders and external professionals, as required.
- Responsible for all financial matters and reporting for: parent company, subsidiary/holding companies
- Prepare and present monthly and annual internal financial statement packages and Strategic financial evaluations for management review, along with May 31st year end package preparation.




- Supervision of preparation of all government tax filings and annual reporting including GST, PST, EHT, corporate tax instalments, WCB, RRSP and extended health package, and all T4’s, T4A’s, & T5’s and any government audits
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of the year-end review engagement of financial statements and tax returns and communication with public accountants
- Oversee in the preparation of the annual corporate insurance and bonding renewal, and risk assessment with the president, and shared oversight with special insurance reporting for all our customers.

Team Leadership

- Oversee and Supervision of the Accounting and administration team, (3-4 staff).
- Human Resources – hire and manage and assist, in the training of admin staff, and occasional high-level involvement on HR entry or exit strategy/issues/risk/negotiations, relating to new employee, employees leaving, and similar issues relating to in-house subcontractors.
- Capital Asset and Inventory listing reviews, and maintenance and ongoing capital purchase negotiations and FMV valuation updates
- Ongoing evaluation and improvement of administration, accounting systems policies, procedures, and data collection processes.

Liaison with External Parties

- Main contact for all external accounting matters/consultants – with Public Accountants in Canada, and the US and special valuation or tax reporting and advisors’ discussions.
- Manage external accounting review and tax compliance processes, in alignment with Canadian accounting standards. - GAAP
- Oversee all legal matters with corporate lawyers, including renewals and filings and urgent matters/memorandums/resolutions/dividends, etc, in conjunction with President’s instructions.
- Direct liaison with the facilities landlord/lease, and the City.
- Oversee all Banking credit facilities/issues/leases, and contact with bank, and lease line managers

Qualifications / Experience

- Qualified CPA,



with minimum 2-5 years in assistant controller or controller role. Preferably with construction industry environment.
- Proven leadership and communication experience with a comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles.
- High proficiency with all Microsoft Office Products and accounting software, especially Excel and QuickBooks Pro, and ERP applications, along with the advanced use of AI and knowledge/experience of accounting system conversions/enhancements.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, budgeting, and account reconciliation processes.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data with business Acumen
- Experience in account analysis and preparing detailed & useful financial reports.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to finance and taxation.

- Able to work well with existing Controller during a job training period of 4-10 months as needed.
- Local to the Abbotsford area – less than 20–30-minute commute preferably.
