Responsibilities and Duties
Under general supervision, the Banquet Server is responsible for delivering food and beverage service at Hart House events, ensuring efficient service and a positive guest experience.
Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:
- Prepare dining rooms, reception areas, and other event spaces to meet operational requirements and guest service standards.
- Set dining tables, prepare service areas, and assemble food and beverage stations according to event specifications.
- Complete routine and special event preparations by following work orders, event diagrams, and verbal instructions.
- Provide skilled food and beverage service while maintaining a high standard of guest experience.
- Clean, organize, and maintain service spaces, small wares, service equipment, and event supplies before, during, and after events.
- Ensure the proper handling, storage, and care of equipment and supplies.
- Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and operational procedures.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while representing Hart House Hospitality’s standards and values.
- Maintain the security and safety of event spaces, service areas, and storage locations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, with responsibilities varying based on daily event schedules and departmental needs
Qualifications
- Applicants must be available to work at least 2 shifts per week during peak season (September–December, April–June),
with open weekend availability required (Please include your availability in your resume).
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and hold a valid Smart Serve Certification (please upload a copy of Smart Serve).
- Physically active role requiring frequent walking and staying on-the-go
- Professional and courteous communication with colleagues and customers
- Ability to follow directions from supervisors and managers
- Capable of working independently and self-managing when needed
- Able to make quick decisions, sometimes adapting plans on the spot
- Customer service or client care experience is an asset
- Previous experience in events or hospitality preferred
- Previous bar experience is preferred
- Must follow all AODA and Health and Safety standards and policies at all times.

Please note: This is a part-time, casual position with up to 16 hours per week. Hours are not guaranteed and are scheduled based on operational requirements and event demand.
