Description

The HSE Advisor will work primarily on-site in the Edmonton area, providing safety oversight, guidance, and reporting to large earthworks projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Promote a “safety first” mentality among all staff, identifying HSE coaching and training opportunities at all levels of the organization.
- Ensure adherence to corporate and regulatory health, safety, and environmental standards, policies, and procedures.
- Lead and participate in safety meetings.
- Provide leadership, and vision for future growth and development by helping Operations, Leadership, and ensure employees are informed, aligned and accountable.
- Collaborate with field and office-based leadership.
- Support adherence to all company health, safety and environmental standards, policies and procedures while maintaining on-going knowledge of local, provincial, and federal guidelines. Transportation knowledge is critical for this role.
- Conduct safety audits and safety equipment inspections.
- Assisting in the development of health and safety policies and programs.
- Support Drug & Alcohol program testing on site.




- Provide technical expertise and support for implementing and maintaining HSE programs/systems throughout Company (Examples: Hazard Identification, Behavior Based Safety Observations, Hazard Assessment documentation, Inspections, Near Miss Reporting, and Incident Investigation).

Required Qualifications:

- 3+ years of experience in HSE within a construction, transportation, or oil & gas setting.
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or equivalent is an asset.
- Traffic Accommodation in Work Zones certificate.
- Knowledge and ability to interpret relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S;) certificate or diploma
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation
- Certified Safety Professional designation (CSP)
- Experience dealing with Worker’s Compensation Board (WCB)
- Valid Standard Level First Aid
- Knowledge of Canadian Model protocols
