What you'll do
BC Hydro’s safety planning, support, assurance and reporting depends on reliable and trusted data, integrated information
systems, effective analytics and practical digital tools that enable timely, consistent and informed decision-making. Safety
Systems & Assurance is leading a portfolio of technology and analytics projects and programs to modernize these
capabilities, strengthen data quality and deliver an intuitive user experience that makes it easier for field and business users
to capture, record, access and use safety information in their day-to-day work.
The Safety Performance & Analytics team is seeking a Project Manager to lead and support projects, work packages,
sustainment activities, and continual improvement across safety information technology systems and applications, data
analysis and reporting tools, and field end-user experience and adoption. This full-time regular (FTR) P3 Project Manager 1
role combines project management leadership with hands-on technical and analytical delivery. Key responsibilities include
leading the sustainment and continual improvement of the current SAP Incident Management System, safety mobile apps,
SafeHub and Safety SharePoint sites; overseeing safety analytics and reporting tools improvement projects; and supporting
the implementation and future sustainment of the new Setting, Health & Safety Technology System.
The ideal candidate is a practical and technically solid project leader who can translate operational needs into usable
information and data solutions. They can manage delivery from planning through implementation and sustainment; work
credibly with IT, data and analytics specialists; and engage field and frontline users to ensure solutions are intuitive,
accessible and effective in real operating conditions. in an operational/industrial organization.
Key responsibilities:
Project delivery:
- Lead technology, information-system and analytics projects or work packages from definition through implementation,
transition and sustainment.
- Establish scope, outcomes, delivery plans, schedules, budgets,
resources, dependencies, risks and decision points, and
maintain clear accountability for delivery.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams that include Safety, IT, data and analytics specialists, vendors, consultants and
operational business groups; resolve issues and communicate progress, risks and decisions.
Information technology, data and analytics:
- Apply working knowledge of enterprise applications, application sustainment, integrations, data flows, data quality, access,
testing and release practices to develop viable requirements and delivery approaches with IT partners.
- Lead or support the design, implementation and continual improvement of safety data models, semantic models,
dashboards, reports and self-service analytics that provide reliable, decision-ready information.
- Provide technical leadership for Power BI reporting solutions, including data modelling, KPI development, dashboard
design, reporting standards and data governance.
- Perform hands-on analysis and problem solving, including profiling and validating data, translating business questions into
analytical requirements, assessing solution options, supporting testing and troubleshooting, and documenting technical
decisions.
Field end-user experience and adoption:
- Spend time with field, frontline management and business users to understand work context, constraints, connectivity,
devices, information needs and points of friction.
- Translate user needs into clear, prioritized functional and technical requirements, prototypes, user stories, acceptance
criteria and practical solution improvements.
- Plan and lead user validation, usability testing, pilots, implementation readiness, training and feedback loops; use
adoption and support data to improve tools after launch.
What you bring
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in a relevant field, such as information technology, computer or data science,
engineering, business systems, analytics or project management. An equivalent combination of education and experience
may be considered.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience that demonstrates depth across project delivery and at least one of
information technology, enterprise systems, data or analytics, with the ability to work effectively across all three focus areas
of this role.
- Demonstrated success leading complex technology, information-system or analytics projects and work packages through
implementation, operational transition and sustainment.
- Strong technical literacy in enterprise applications, data structures and flows, system integrations, data quality, data
modeling, testing and analytics/reporting tools; able to engage credibly with architects, developers, analysts and support
teams.
- Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise reporting and analytics solutions, including data modelling, KPI
development and dashboard/report design using platforms such as Power BI.
- Hands-on analytical capability, including the ability to investigate data or system issues, interpret results, define
meaningful measures and translate findings into decisions and improvements.
- Demonstrated experience engaging field or frontline users and designing or improving digital tools around their operating
context, including usability, mobile access, adoption and practical implementation support.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, relationship-management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect
operational needs, technical options and project decisions for varied audiences.
Considered an Asset:
- Project management certification.
- Experience with enterprise application implementation or sustainment, system integration, data architecture or
provisioning, and analytics/reporting platforms such as Power BI.
- Experience implementing, sustaining and/or enhancing environment, health and safety (EHS) software platforms.
- Experience sustaining and/or enhancing business information systems such as SAP.
- Experience developing, implementing, sustaining and/or enhancing document or content- management solutions,
including Microsoft SharePoint Online.
- Experience with safety or other relevant risk management systems and integrated business processes.
- Experience with user-centred design, field research, usability testing, mobile or offline solutions, product ownership,
change adoption or service design.
- Demonstrated experience delivering technology and analytics improvements in an operational, industrial or regulated
environment.
- Familiarity with both traditional/waterfall and agile methodologies of project management.

- Please note a condition of employment for this role is to maintain your Class 5 Driver's License in good standing.
- This is a hybrid role with 2 days minimum required in the office each week.
- The headquarters location for this role will be our Edmonds location in Burnaby.
