Finance Manager Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to oversee financial reporting, accounting policies, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely delivery of financial information to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
The Finance Manager will be responsible for consolidated financial reporting, compliance with IFRS requirements, external audit coordination, management reporting, and supporting business leaders with meaningful financial analysis. This role will also contribute to the ongoing development of financial processes, controls, systems, and reporting capabilities across the organization.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Compliance
- Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with applicable IFRS and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate the preparation of Management's Discussion & Analysis (MD&A;) and other external financial reporting requirements.
- Ensure financial information is complete, accurate, properly supported, and delivered according to established reporting timelines.
- Prepare and oversee monthly consolidated management reporting and financial performance packages.
- Provide analysis of monthly financial results, including key trends, risks, opportunities, and significant variances.
- Prepare financial reports, presentations, and analysis for senior management and other stakeholders.
- Manage the preparation and submission of required reports to regulatory bodies.
Accounting Policies & IFRS
- Develop, maintain, and enhance accounting policies, procedures, systems, and internal controls.
- Ensure accounting practices remain compliant with IFRS and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Research and interpret new and evolving accounting standards and evaluate their potential impact on the organization.
- Prepare accounting research and documentation relating to complex accounting matters.
- Work with internal business teams to understand transactions and assess the appropriate accounting treatment.
- Recommend updates to accounting policies, processes, and controls when changes in standards or business activities require them.
Audit & Financial Controls
- Lead and coordinate the annual external audit process, acting as a key point of contact for external auditors.
- Ensure audit requests, supporting documentation, and financial information are provided accurately and within required timelines.
- Review and strengthen financial controls and accounting processes to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Evaluate existing financial systems, procedures, and reporting processes and recommend improvements where appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial governance, reporting processes, and internal controls.
Planning, Forecasting & Business Analysis
- Work closely with the FP&A; function to develop monthly management reporting packages, including financial analysis, commentary, and variance explanations.
- Support the preparation and ongoing management of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Analyze actual results against budgets and forecasts and communicate significant variances to management.
- Partner with business unit leaders to provide financial insights that support operational decision-making and strategic objectives.
- Work with management to understand financial performance, investigate variances, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide timely financial information and business analysis to support organizational planning and performance management.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with senior finance leaders, business unit managers, and other internal stakeholders on financial reporting and business planning activities.
- Communicate complex financial and accounting matters clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.
- Support senior leadership with financial information, analysis, and recommendations.
- Establish and maintain reporting timelines, deliverables, and processes to ensure key deadlines are consistently achieved.
- Participate in finance-related projects and initiatives as required.
- Perform additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- CPA designation is strongly preferred.
- Several years of progressive experience in financial reporting, accounting, corporate finance, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge and practical application of IFRS.
- Experience preparing or reviewing consolidated financial statements and management reporting.
- Experience with MD&A; and external financial reporting requirements.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, accounting policies, and reporting processes.
- Experience managing or coordinating external audits.
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modelling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret complex accounting standards and translate requirements into practical business solutions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present financial information to senior leadership.
- Robust organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight reporting deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.
- Experience working within a multi-entity, complex, or rapidly evolving organization is an asset.
Pay: $110,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
