Instructional Designer
- Pay Rate: $74.00/hour, depending on experience
- Contract Length: 6 Months

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Instructional Designein this role will lead a critical optimization project for our clients care and contact center onboarding programs. In this hands-on role, you will operate independently and alongside our internal learning team to review, audit, and redesign our newly combined new-hire onboarding curriculum. Your core objective is to evaluate current training paths, identify efficiencies to shorten program length without sacrificing critical learning outcomes, and embed modern adult learning methodologies. The ideal candidate brings a deep, proven background in call center learning and development, exceptional instructional design expertise, and the ability to work on-site in Calgary to shadow workflows and observe the working environment firsthand.
Responsibilities
- Curriculum Audit & Optimization: Review and analyze our newly redesigned call center new-hire onboarding program to identify bottlenecks, redundancies, and opportunities for efficiency.
- Program Streamlining: Successfully shorten overall training program length while maintaining rigorous compliance, product knowledge, and operational readiness standards.
- Instructional Redesign: Design and develop engaging, interactive learning paths, training modules, and performance support tools leveraging modern digital authoring software.
- Environment Shadowing & Collaboration: Spend time in office in our Calgary call center to shadow daily operations, observe agent workflows,
and align learning solutions directly with real-world floor needs.
- Enablement & Facilitation Support: Guide team members and learning stakeholders through leading performance sessions, supporting the rollout of updated training paths.
- Metrics Analysis: Partner with leadership to track learning metrics, evaluate post-training performance data, and drive continuous program improvement.
Qualifications
- 5 years of progressive experience in instructional design, corporate learning, and development.
- Must have proven, demonstrable experience designing and executing learning and development programs specifically within a call center or contact center environment. (Banking or financial services call center experience is considered a strong asset).
- Core Skills & Competencies
- Adult Learning Expertise: Deep mastery of instructional design principles, curriculum architecture, and learner engagement strategies optimized for adult learners.
- Call Center L&D; Mastery: Extensive, hands-on background in developing training paths specifically tailored to high-volume customer service or contact center operations.
- Authoring & Multimedia Tools: Advanced proficiency with Articulate 360 and other modern digital, video, or gamification creation tools.
- Communication & Collaboration: Level 5 communication skills with the ability to consult effectively with stakeholders, facilitate leadership sessions, and guide internal teams.
- Independent Project Management: Proven ability to self-manage, drive projects from discovery to delivery, and balance strategic vision with tactical, hands-on execution.
- Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Adult Learning, Instructional Design, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Certifications (Assets): Professional designations or certifications in instructional design, adult education (e.g., CTP, CTDP), or agile project management are highly desirable
Additional Information
- Based in Calgary, Alberta, with the ability to work on-site to shadow the call center environment and collaborate directly with the team.
- A requirement for candidates to be considered for this role will be to complete a criminal and credit check (including Canadian Credit Risk Score)
