About the Opportunity

LearnStar is opening an exciting new after-school program at Stiles Cove Chalet, and we are looking for a caring, dependable and enthusiastic Assistant Supervisor to join our team!

The Assistant Supervisor will work closely with the Program Supervisor to support daily operations and provide children with a secure, positive and engaging after-school experience.

Our programming will include daily homework support and the LearnStar Innovation Academy, offering hands-on activities in STEM and science, art and creativity, innovation and problem-solving, and outdoor recreation.

Responsibilities

- Support the Supervisor with the daily operation of the after-school program.
- Assist with staff coordination, activity planning and daily routines.
- Assume leadership responsibilities in the Supervisor’s absence.
- Help ensure children are safely received, supervised and dismissed.
- Maintain accurate attendance and follow sign-in and sign-out procedures.
- Support children with homework and educational activities.
- Help deliver Innovation Academy activities and recreational programming.
- Encourage children’s confidence, creativity, friendships and positive behaviour.
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with children, families,



staff and school representatives.
- Respond appropriately to incidents, concerns and emergencies.
- Assist with program setup, cleanup and organization.
- Follow and help reinforce LearnStar policies, procedures and safety expectations.
- Complete required documentation accurately and promptly.

Qualifications

- Previous experience working with school-aged children is required.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, organization and teamwork skills.
- Patient, dependable and comfortable taking initiative.
- Ability to support both children and fellow staff members positively.
- Current Standard First Aid certification or willingness to obtain the required two-day course before starting.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check or willingness to obtain one before starting.
- Availability Monday to Friday from 1:35 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
