GENERAL:

Reporting to the Supervisor and Skilled Lead Hand, Material Handlers are responsible for the efficient movement of plant products as directed by product SOP’s and process requirements. The successful candidate will spend the majority of their shift in that role however they will also be required to work on the production line when required. All duties are performed in a safe and efficient manner. The Material Handler will be responsible for following established food safety and quality procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Ensure proper movement of material and product for planned production in a safe and efficient manner. Including palletizing as needed.
- Perform a variety of sorting and packing tasks as a part of the production crew on the line.
- Assist team in helping perform quick product changeovers and promptly report any mechanical issues.
- Safely and efficiently handle the product movement with pallet truck.
- Inspect products for quality ,



immediately reporting any defects or foreign objects
- Assist Packaging Lead Hand to move the pallets to the pallet wrapper and the shipping dock.
- Perform all tasks to ensure compliance with specifications of the customer product.
- Ensure acceptable housekeeping of working area, free of slip and trip hazards at all times.
- Other duties as directed by Skilled Lead Hands and Supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

- High school diploma or Grade 12 equivalent is preferred.




- 1+ year experience in manufacturing or food/meat production is preferred.
- Must be able to handle heavy lifting of up to 30kg boxes and stand for extended periods.
- Must possess and maintain valid hand truck and forklift certifications.
- Proven ability to understand and follow safety and work instructions in English.
- Good communication skills and able to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure and with little supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Work in a fast-paced, refrigerated setting, involving proximity to machinery and food ingredients.
- Work in cold, wet and slippery plant conditions for extended periods of time.
- Flexible work schedule including mornings, afternoons and weekends.
- Requires use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay Rate: $20.35 -$21.35 per hour, plus attendance bonus and shift premium

Schedule:

- 8-hour shift
- Flexible for morning, afternoon shift
- Weekends as needed
