This is a dynamic, cross-trained kitchen position supporting both Café Mexico and our sister restaurant, Fuego. The successful applicant will be trained in both prep and line cooking and will work across a variety of stations and responsibilities throughout the week.

Applicants must have flexible availability, including mornings, days, evenings, and weekends, and be comfortable adapting to the needs of both kitchens.

Hours: Minimum 2 days per week

At Café Mexico, we’re looking for a strong Prep/Line Cook to join the kitchen team and help deliver consistent, high-quality food in a rapid-paced restaurant environment.

This role is for someone who understands how to work clean, organized, and with urgency. We need a cook who can handle service pressure, communicate well with the team, and take pride in consistency on the line. Café Mexico is built on energy, flavour, and rhythm, and the kitchen is a huge part of that experience.

We’re looking for someone who can step into service with confidence, work as part of a team, and is comfortable with late nights. This is a part-time role with a minimum of 2 days per week, with a mix of early morning, swing shifts and late night closes throughout the week including the weekend.

What You’ll Do

Prep Cooking

- Work with our team to prep ingredients as per our recipes
- Follow prep list and prep amounts lead by head prep cook
- Handle stock and deliveries that arrive during shift
- Convey any shorts to head prep cook

Line Cooking

- Prepare and execute menu items to Café Mexico standards
- Maintain consistency, cleanliness, and urgency throughout service
- Set up and stock your station before service




- Work efficiently through busy periods while maintaining quality

Kitchen Standards

- Follow recipes, portioning, and plating standards
- Keep station clean, organized, and stocked throughout the shift
- Assist with prep, restocking, and end-of-night closing duties
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards at all times

Cleaning & Closing

- Assist with end-of-night cleaning duties
- Help maintain cleanliness in dish area, kitchen floors, garbage, and recycling areas
- Support the team in leaving the kitchen clean, stocked, and ready for the next day

Team & Communication

- Communicate clearly with kitchen team and expo during service
- Support teammates during peak periods
- Contribute to a positive and professional kitchen culture
- Help maintain smooth service flow and strong execution

What We’re Looking For

- Previous line cook experience in a busy restaurant kitchen
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to work clean under pressure
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Reliability and consistency
- Comfort working late nights
