Working in accounting can be no easy feat, but if your join our team, you'll be in for a treat!
About Us
We are a closely knit team that enjoys a healthy blend of working hard and enjoying each other's company.
Come to Work as a Whole Person
We operate under the belief that because most of us spend more time with each other than anyone else in our lives, we want to have fun, learn from and support each other, and, of course, have a good laugh. Because of the small size of our team, we like to foster a friendly, supportive setting where everyone feels like they come to work as a whole person, not just as an employee. That means that we encourage open communication to support our team members to the fullest, whether you're having personal or professional challenges or health issues.
Quit Working for the Weekend
Perhaps the most significant part of our culture is our four-day work weeks, which means every weekend is a long weekend. It also means that days are a bit longer, clocking in at around ten hours per day, but we're flexible about when you start and finish, within reason, as client service is our top priority.
Work Hard, Pay Harder
You'll undoubtedly flourish with our team if you have an aptitude for stellar client service, attention to detail, and daily learning of recent and challenging information. We encourage personal excellence and reward it accordingly.
Now, let's chat about the role…
Whether you already have your CPA designation or continually sharpening your skills as a staff accountant, this role is full of opportunities, including:
- Client service is number one because we operate within a closely knit community and believe empowering and educating our clients is integral to their confidence in our organization. Personal tax clients make up most of our client base, so regular check-ins and working closely with many of them are a significant part of this role.
- Stellar preparation and completion of working papers, trust returns, financial statements and tax returns are also a must. Your analytical, verbal and written skills will certainly have their time to shine.
- Ownership of tasks, especially creating and completing compilations for various corporate clients, is fundamental. Following through with your manager and the clients to keep them up to speed is of utmost importance.
- Bookkeeping is another significant facet of this role. It calls for an individual with a keen eye for detail, a willingness to learn new things and absorb them in a timely fashion, and a knack for sometimes complicated files that may require some tidying.
- The ability to prioritize is worth its weight in gold at our office because the demands can be aplenty and constantly shifting. Approaching your work like a healthcare professional in a busy emergency department where triage(aka the most pressing patient calls for your attention first) is the name of your game; you'll do well with our team.
Your Qualifications
First things first:
remember that although we have a lengthy wish list, we also love a self-starter with the ambition and drive to learn and advance. That means that we'd still like to hear from you even if you are missing some of the qualifications or skillsets.
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration. Our preference is that your education focuses on a specialization in Accounting.
- Considerable professional experience in corporate and personal accounting
- Caseware and experience in Public Accounting are essential to this role, and we require at least two years of experience.
We also offer:
- Competitive salary - as we stated before, hard work yields rewards in our organization, like remote work opportunities and annual raises and bonuses for stellar performance.
- Benefits - don't expect a deduction on your salary because we pay for your benefits, including dental, vision and medical care, amongst many other offerings.
- Flexible schedule - we are happy to meet your needs so long as your work is executed and completed promptly and satisfactorily. Need to run and pick up your kid? Maybe duck out for a quick medical appointment? No problem, just let us know the amount of time you'll need and, if necessary when the time missed will be made up, and you're good to go!
