The Role:

As Earthworks Estimator, you'll prepare cost estimates for excavation, grading, site preparation, and light water & sewer projects, working closely with project managers and site supervisors from bid through award. You'll be the person turning plans and specifications into numbers the business can bid with confidence.

What You'll Do

- Prepare accurate cost estimates for earthworks projects, including excavation, grading, site preparation, and light water & sewer construction.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine scope and requirements.
- Conduct material take-offs and quantity calculations, including pipe, bedding, and appurtenances for light water & sewer scopes.
- Source and negotiate pricing with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to ensure cost-effective, efficient project execution.
- Prepare and submit bid proposals within deadlines.
- Assess potential project risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Maintain and update cost databases and historical project data.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client discussions as required.




- Support contract negotiations and change order management.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

- Minimum 5 years of experience in estimating earthworks, excavation, or civil construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and best practices.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and survey data.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in cost calculations and projections.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines effectively.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for site visits.
- Field experience with CSTS-09, CSTS-2020, First Aid, and Ground Disturbance is considered an asset.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing for site access, if required.

Schedule:

- Monday-Friday, with occasional overtime as needed.
- In-office and site visits as required.
