Position Summary
LaGrange Mechanical Services Ltd. is currently seeking motivated and dependable Journeyman and Apprentice Plumbers/Gasfitters to join our growing team.
This is a varied position based out of our Edmonton shop, with work consisting of a combination of shop work, service calls, local projects throughout the Edmonton area, and out-of-town project work as required.
We are looking for individuals who are adaptable, take pride in their work, and are comfortable working in different environments. Flexibility and willingness to travel and work out of town when required is an important part of this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform plumbing and gasfitting installation, service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work.
- Complete plumbing and gasfitting work on modular buildings and construction-related projects.
- Install, repair, and maintain piping, fixtures, pumps, valves, tanks, water distribution, drainage, and gas systems.
- Diagnose plumbing and gas system issues and complete required repairs.
- Perform work in the shop, at customer locations, and on active construction/project sites.
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, work instructions, and project documentation.
- Complete work in accordance with applicable codes, company procedures, and client requirements.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and service vehicles in good working condition.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, customers, and other trades.
- Report hazards, incidents, and equipment deficiencies promptly.
- Travel to out-of-town projects and work extended schedules or rotations when required.
- Perform other duties reasonably assigned that are consistent with your qualifications and operational needs.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Plumber/Gasfitter or registered Apprentice Plumber/Gasfitter.
- Previous service, commercial, modular, industrial, or construction experience is considered an asset.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Solid commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
- Reliable, dependable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- English proficiency with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a satisfactory driver's abstract.
- Ability to travel locally throughout the Edmonton area.
- Must be willing and able to travel and work out of town as required.
- Ability to work extended hours, shift work, or project rotations when operationally required.
- Ability to meet client site-access requirements, including orientations, drug and alcohol testing, medical assessments, and other site-specific requirements where applicable.
Assets
- Service plumbing and troubleshooting experience.
- Commercial or industrial plumbing/gasfitting experience.
- Experience with modular buildings and construction.
- Experience with water distribution, sewage systems, lift stations, pumps, or utility infrastructure.
- CSTS 2020.
- H2S Alive, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry/Monitor, Elevated Work Platform, Standard First Aid, or other applicable safety training.
- Equipment operation experience.
What to Expect
This is not strictly a shop position or strictly an out-of-town position. Work assignments will vary depending on operational and project requirements and may include:
- Work at our Edmonton-area shop.
- Service calls and project work throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas.
- Short-term and longer-term out-of-town assignments.
- Industrial, commercial, modular, and construction environments.
- Extended workdays, overtime, shift work, or project rotations when required.
Employees assigned to eligible out-of-town work will receive accommodations, travel arrangements, and/or Living Out Allowance (LOA) in accordance with company policy and the requirements of the specific project.

Pay: $25.00-$45.00 per hour
